Nice. I placed a similar one but tanzanite instead of Portimao
Any idea when they expect to deliver (I was told no SOP before September, delivery around December/January...)

Good choice, I'm sure you'll find the M340i is a much more fun and engaging car, congrats!

Nice build! I am surprised you didn't opt in for the shadowline package. I wanted dravit gray but couldn't get a Germany allocation so I also went with the Portimao blue. I'm happy to see that everyone isn't doing the same build.

8-10 weeks depending on where you get your allocation from. Shipping being a factor also the there's also articles that the Germany plant has paused production set up production for the i4. I believe they said September is when the plant resumes. if you get a Germany build your probably looking at delivery around November

Congrats, new to the forum but lurking for a while. I ordered my 2021 back in June. Hit the assembly line on July 1st in Germany and was informed by the dealership it should be ready for pick up in the DFW area on August 20th.

If that helps you as a point of reference on timeline.

Do you mind sharing your deal on this and where you ordered it? I also have a 2018 540i with a lease ending in February, and I plan on ordering an M340i similar to your specs, also in Florida.

On a whim I found an executive demo equipped almost exactly to my liking on the east coast. I thought it could be a good deal between current incentives, end of 2020 model run, and the demo miles, and if so I would pick it up and have two cars for a few months. The dealer quoted lease rates over $900/month on an M340i "discounted" from $64k to $57k on their website. That is more than I am paying on a $78k 540i. Three different people from the dealership have called back to tell me what a special car it is and how many people are looking at it. I have obviously given up on my whim, but wonder if the pricing will remain outlandish when I order a car.

I am sold on the M340i for its driving experience, but I also expect a less expensive car to be less expensive to lease.

I ended up canceling the order on the M340i. Sure it's "faster" handles corners "better" etc. I see those as the only positives over a 540i. You ideally cannot drive like that everyday in Florida with traffic, speed limits etc. the 540i is quieter, smoother, more comfortable, more space, better interior quality, plus it handles very good for an everyday vehicle, steers very well, rides much better. I just don't the point to go down to a M340i when it has less positives than the 540i as an everyday vehicle. Plus to me the 5-series has a much better design flow than the 3-series.

I've been driving BMW's since I was 16 years old, I'm 42 now. The 5-series seems to fit me more what I enjoy more now at my age then when I was younger. The 3 is nice but the 5 is just on a more mature level.

simply put the lease deals are no longer there. 5 dealers in the chicago area were all around 800-900 a month 15k miles for a msrp 62k car.

finally found one that offered 730 a month and just did it pick car up in a week. I simply fell in love and am tired of looking lol

So are you getting another 540i? After a 3-series and two 5-series, I actually want to go back to a smaller car. I might just order a loaded 330i if the M340i numbers are crazy. As you state, there is little opportunity to enjoy the extra power in Florida, and FHP is more aggressive than ever. I also enjoy the lighter feel of the 330i, the classic BMW grill, and the 40 MPG highway economy I experienced in a rental.

There's deals out there and I would entertain the idea looking at a broker. What sucks right now with these models there's no incentives and dealers are not getting bonus cash so there not aggressively discounting the cars. If your lease ends in February I'll start looking for a build in November.

I'm probably getting any other 540i but the LCI. I grew up driving cars like the E36, E34, E39 and the G30 is the first 5-series after the E39 that gives me more of a nostalgic feel for what I remember how an E39 felt refined in terms of solidness, ride quality, handling, quietness. Etc

I truly enjoy the G30 and I'd like to enjoy it for another 3 years before they go out of production. Plus the design of the G30 has more of the traditional BMW styling cues that reminds me more of the classic BMW designs, for example. The Hofmeister kink, side character line running through the door handles, the long hood with the flatter looking kidney grills and the round BMW Halo headlights.

$600 a month has to be a sample build or the car is only equipped with the standard options. Decently optioned your looking at about $650 I got 9% off my build is basically fully loaded and with the current incentives I'm looking about $700 payment. To give you some perspective on my 2020 build it was 69k with the incentives then my payment was quoted at $595. For the 2021 also 69k if they bring back the incentives my payment drops from $700ish to $620

Its a 2021 allocation at 9% off MSRP plus PenFed incentive. MSRP is $66,325. And yes its actually closer to $650 not $600. My fault on that.

All good Im assuming you working with Dan knight (next level auto) he's the only broker I've seen with 9% lol. If your comfortable with that payment then by all means pull the trigger and your locked in for 60 days so the best case when you take delivery the incentives are better

Just FYI, it isn't clear that Penfed applies to 2021 models at this point. I'd love to be proven wrong, but until I see a certificate from PenFed stating '21s are including, I'd assume they are not.

Edit: I'm happy to report I've been proven wrong! Penfed does appear to apply to '21 model years.
