Anyone else miss the orange instrument cluster?
One of the features of BMW that made me fall in love was the orange instrument cluster. It just made me feel like I'm in a stealth cockpit. Especially at night. I wish that was something they could add on future generations of BMWs. But I get the feeling BMW isn't a company like Porsche that stay true to heritage. Porsche with the key on the left side and specific features that will always be a signal to their past. BMW seems to like to evolve and keep the past in the past. Which its good, there's just some small things that would be awesome if they decided to bring back.

Yeah, I really thought with the digital cockpits they would have had some different faces we could play with. A classic orange setting would be pretty sweet. Hell, make it something I can pay for. I’ll do it lol

Yes a bit, I quite like the new tech though. It was a classic!

Personally, going from a M340i test drive back into my F36 made the traditional cluster feel so dated to me. I feel like the new cluster gives off much more of a cockpit vibe, but again that's just personal preference

The current digital display is a bit poor really. The VAG offering is miles ahead and that been around for 4 or 5 years. Thankfully fully BMW redeem theirselves with idrive.

Anyone have a good closeup pic of the analog G22 display?
Best pics I can find are here : https://www.motor1.com/photo/5025721...se-version-de/ But I'd like a better close up. |

It looks like base instrument cluster on the new 2 series, but with wider fuel and temperature gauges.
2 series cluster looks like this: https://img.drive.ru/i/0/5eeb308bec05c4e81500018a.jpg |

I wish they'd at least make it an option. A clean and simple digital version of the old cluster in my G20 would be awesome. I personally feel the new gauge cluster is too cluttered

The new digital gauge package is busy but I don’t find it offensive, nor do I miss the old orange dials. I’m almost 70 and have relied on dials for both racing and daily driving, but I don’t miss them any more than an F1 or GTLM driver does. I don’t even program in the round dials in my Jeep Grand Cherokee.
Kinda like going from rotary dial phone to iPhone. |

It does have the Live Cockpit Pro so full digital.
In normal day-to-day driving I don’t spend that much time looking at the gauges. I make periodic note of oil pressure, temp, and tire pressure, but only periodic. The HUD is handy for speed. When flogging a car in manual mode (or in my 67 Corvette MT), the tach, speed, and oil pressure are important to me in that order. |

I think the display is fine during daytime driving but I don't like the color scheme at night. Blue is one of the worst colors at night imo.
Green or orange is much easier on the eyes. Something like the classic Saab night panel would have been great where you could turn everything off except the important gauges. It should be really simple for BMW to do so with an all digital cluster |

I’d bet you could code it to be blue or green during daytime and then trigger to switch to red off the light sensor that activates your headlights. |
