As would I. It's just that all the precedents and trends point to something better -- different, but fundamentally better. That's all I'm pointing out in the posts above ...

... and I'll add that the GR is still in camo partially because of powertrain tweaks. I have that on good authority from someone in TMC HQ. Read into that what you will.

Not news, but I thought these looked pretty cool.

If the production model looks like that my m4 is gone and project supra is on!

If you think about, just about all of BMW cars are a great starting point for building performance vehicles. For example the M models are built upon their pedestrian counterpart. If Toyota has taken the base Z4 and in a sense built their own version of a M car. It could very well end up being something special. Of course the Supra isn't getting a S designated engine(although there is indication Toyota will tweak B58 a bit), but the M2 has a N55 and the overall package is very good. This quote from Tetsuya Tada could give some insight into what I'm talking about, "the Supra will differ from the Z4 in that the Supra is intended to be a “pure sports car.”

Sounds similar to the long as hell time they took with the LFA, became one of the greatest ever. Not even BMW has anything that can match it

They already Prius'd the Supra a decade ago, won with it.

Unless it's a see through hood, wtf? Just show us already then reveal drivetrain afterwards if need be.

The FT-1 looks sexy in those pictures - I'm a huge fan of short overhangs.

Need to see it IRL to help determine if it will age well or end up looking silly after the novelty wears off.

New interview says we are getting a DCT and the production version will be unveiled this fall.

- By the way, is MT prepared for the next SUPRA?

Mr. Tada: At the moment, it is not; it is just a dual clutch transmission. I think whether it is not fun if MT is a large power car like the next SUPRA. Raising the torque of the engine will make the shift feel worse. If so, it is very doubtful whether MT specification is necessary. However, I think that there is a meaning of MT adoption if it is said that even general people will taste the sequential type transmission installed in the racing car.

By the way, it is said that the official announcement of the production version I'm looking forward to will be about fall of 2018. Anyway, I am looking forward to the debut of the next SUPRA!

All the FT-1 hype seems like a red herring. It’s clear from the spy shots and the GR Racing Concept that the production car’s proportions will not match the FT-1, even if it does share some of its styling cues. I feel like it’s going to lead to lots of disappointment, backlash, and hate.

Reminds me of the WRX Concept debacle from 2015:

I’m sure I could given enough time and incentive, but a better idea would be simply to stop posting FT-1 material, right?

After all, there are already renders based on spy-shots and the GR Racing Concept. While the latter is clearly wider than test mules, at least it has the production wheelbase and production or near-production overhangs (minus splitter/diffuser).

I'll give you a dollar , but seriously, once the media picks it up then it would probably bring more traffic to the forums.

My bad, people on other forums enjoyed it so I thought people here would too.

Yeah, but those are based on the older prototypes. I haven't seen to many renderings based on the GR concept.

(I'm assuming you are reffering to these?)

Sure, that’ll cover a couple pixels. Baby steps.

Bimmerpost has a reputation for providing reliable info and avoiding click bait. Curation is key. Being a legitimate place to get facts has gotten the site plenty of mentions and links in the media. I think it’s great when members work together to help maintain that.

The FT-1 was a great forward thinking concept car. Nothing at all wrong with discussing it and posting about it. It probably even has a dedicated thread around here somewhere. If not, someone could start one if they felt so inclined.

Those are good in that the artist at least came up with something that has a chance of resembling what might be under the camo. How accurate they may ultimately be remains to be seen.

Looks good if it’s going to look like that. The way the hood opens would be a bit weird, though....

This was made from the GR Supra concept. Gone are the wide body kit, 10 ft wing, and hood vents.
