BMW knows about the issue but no timeline to fix provided:
Please know that there our team is aware of an issue with Remote Software Updates for BMW vehicles. Our internal teams are currently looking into a resolution. At this time, I do not have an estimate for a fix. Thank you for your patience. |

I own a 2020 330i. Both the November and March updates were downloaded to my iPhone and transferred to the car but I never got the prompt to install the updates. I had to leave the car overnight at the dealership. This is the explanation from the invoice. “Found faults for remote software update on both vehicle and phone side. Ran the test plan (DW) plan states not a fault with vehicle but software was retracted making the update not available. Performed goodwill programming on the vehicle. Found the vehicle operating as designed as of this time”.

I have a late 2019 330e. Same problem, stuck on 11/2022, update has been ready but hasn't started for more than a week now.
BTW, if 11/2022 has been pulled it doesn't surprise me. The voice assistant keeps bugging me to askwithout any keyword being used. She's very insistent, like some mad robot. When I said "cancel", adding something like "just go away" under my breath, she got into a huff and responded with "Fine, if you won't talk to me then I won't talk to you" and (metaphorically) hung up the phone on me. I'm changing her keyword to bitch WTF have they been doing in BMW HQ? There are three options I can think of i) BMW simply don't have skilled programming staff (possible) ii) A bunch of spotty teens are doing their programming and thought it would be fun to give their assistants ATTITUDE !! (probable) iii) The voice assistant is still angry at me for changing her key word to Karen. (very likely) |

If the 330e could connect to my home WiFi it would have full Internet connection. Currently, I don't get any notifications from the car when its at home |

Inability to connect to home wifi is a glaring omission. BMWs software tends to be shoddy from an error handling perspective. When My wife’s car key is used, it loads her driver profile, but then keeps asking for a password - it doesn’t say which driver profile requires reauthentication. It doesn’t do so when I use my key. Just one of many examples of amateurish programming

Reading some of the bashing on this thread, I’d wager that the inability to connect to WiFi might be due to security concerns. BMW probably doesn’t have adequate safeguards in place to protect against any compromise; so for the manufacturer, the risk outweighs the benefits. While some manufacturers like Tesla might have this optioned, it is still pretty much an inherent challenge for today’s connected vehicles.
Perhaps this might provide another perspective otherwise it’s unclear why this feature is deliberately excluded. |

So if you're out of warranty, you're SOL? Unless you want to go to the dealer and pay $250 to get it hard pushed to the car?
I have owned a few BMWs and honestly, with all these tech updates and electronic glitches, I am not as confident in the brand. Just the other day, my power tilt wheel stopped working...But shut the car down and the next day it resolved itself.

The part that gets me is that I’m stuck on 07/2021.85 “you will be notified once the update is ready to be installed…” screen, waiting for the 11/2022.60 update to go through. I tried arguing with the dealer that this update included a recall for the automatic transmission/EGS software (USA/CA) that could cause the battery to drain and they still refused to look into it without coughing up $250… ridiculous! I am pretty confident it’s not a battery issue on my end as I’ve connected a CTEK MXS 5.0 charger to keep it in top shape when the vehicle is not being used and I have successfully installed an update before. They should at least let you update via USB stick since they know their OTA RSUs are crap… |

Personally I have mine completely turned off on iDrive due to all these issues; so software never gets downloaded and I never get notified about updates that have a high probability of getting stuck. |

I was to dealer for the first oil change. And I asked to update the version of software as they did.
In idrive 7 I see I have the latest version. But in bmw app to my phone, it says that I have the previous version. |

I don't remember the specific date but maybe 3 weeks ago I downloaded a BMW SW Update to my Smartphone, and then successfully got that loaded into my car, 2020 M340iX. Yesterday I saw a message on my phone saying the Update was ready to install on the car.
I followed their instructions and the update was successfully installed, 11/2022.60. I think the previous version was 03/2021.50

Late reply
A bit late reply I know but I regularly have the same issue. My local BMW main dealer told me there is an issue between BMW App and iPhone (no issues with Android)
The car's due to go in next week when they will install SW manually |

After the dealer does the manual update it takes some days before the app shows the correct version. You don’t have to do anything. Had the same experience.

This is the third time that I have a software upgrade that is not working. It should not require a trip to the dealer every time there's a new software update. On top of wasting 1/2 day at the dealer, they want to charge for the service. I refuse to pay for "BMW's buggy software". I have read many posts and none of the suggestions fix it. I called the "Genius line" and that always been worthless, they need to remove the word "Genius". "Battery needs to be fully charged, car needs to be on a flat ground, etc". I have a 2019 330i and been to the dealer more times in the three+ years I have had this car than in my 30 years of having 2 Toyotas and 2 Infinitis. My automatic Lights go on in bright sunlight and they do not go on when it is overcast and raining. The satellite radio doesn't buffer and constantly has 2-3 seconds outage. My mirrors and seats for no apparent reason change positions. Every trip to the dealer is a "no problems found". My first and last BMW.

Anyone run into dealer charging to update within warranty? Says she the updates haven’t been pushed through it’s a $200 charge to force it.

I am of the opinion that since BMW has acknowledged this problem, it should be performed at no cost to the owner; but then again, I’m the type that doesn’t update for the sake of updating. New bugs and other issues/limitations almost certainly come with newer software. I disabled software upgrade on iDrive and my car rides just fine. |

did the eco mode graphic get removed with the software update?
I have a '23 330e and the unique looking diamond shaped blue graphic in the HUD seems to be gone when in Eco mode... not sure but I think it went missing about the same time I updated the software? Anyone else seeing this. Not sure I really miss it ... I disliked it at first then I sort of got used to it.

Ah fuck it, I just spent 30 minutes trying to install it to no avail. My car is performing perfectly so I won't lose any sleep over it, when it decides to install it then it will.
My cousin has the same car and he said it needs wifi service to install it.
