In love with the wheels but not the idea of cleaning them

is it just me who has a f30 now and doesn't think this new g20 looks better I like the back but hate the rest even down to the door handles but no doubt ill probably still end getting one in the future as will everyone else saying they don't like it now I just cant help but think the f30 with m performance looks so much better either way I don't feel a rush to sell the f30 for one of these and I'm sure other owners feel the same way

I just cannot stand the kidney grills they look even worse in black against white it looks ridiculous to me.
The 3er was always a bit sober suited and middle of the road but handsome, this new one not so much.

Those wheels are also amongst the worst looking OEMs I've seen on a BMW - overly fussy, unsophisticated and what you'd expect to see on a sporty spec Ford or Vauxhall Fortunately, BMW still makes great engines. Their latest design language however does nothing for me - not in 2D form so far, anyway

As a daily drive, the 320d has more than enough performance - on YouTube search for the F30 M-Sport video called something like "320d, all the car you need" and watch them drive it up to 140mph on the autobahn. You've always been able to buy cars like this from the e30 onwards - eg. a 318i with M-tech kit & suspension, or an e36 318iM, which looks exactly like an e36 M3 asides from the missing Vaders and tiny exhaust. Even came with M/// badges from the dealer! |

Dual exhausts on a 20d : so now the 40i cars will look EXACTLY the same as the lesser models bar some crappy grey mirrors that will look better with carbon.

The two-litre models have also had two exhausts. Then one. Sometimes two again. Then one again. Now, two. Next week? Who knows. Anyway, the 340i has rectangular outlets, a la Mercedes, Kia etc. Once upon a time the high-output BMWs looked just like the cooking models. That was their point, and one of their main draws... man, are those days o-v-e-r. Now people want them to look like they crashed them into Halfords. Progress . |

I’m not a big fan of the new design. I’ll hold out hope that the grand coupe version looks better. Otherwise, I’ll shoot for an used F80. https://paultan.org/cn/2018/10/03/m-...mance-parts-1/ |

There is hate all over The Internet. Whether it’s automatic transmissions, interior light-on delays, inlet grille eggcrate membrane spacing, exhaust tip shape or count... there’s an outlet for someone, somewhere to announce it
Personally I find this car to be more or less the opposite of the BMW I knew and loved growing up. I’m sure it’ll be a very, very good car, and people will click happily on the internet to order their car with visual options suggestive of extreme physical violence, and they will love it. But it’s not for me, not any more. The door handles... what, I didn’t even notice those. |

I said that the 320d from 2015 had dual exhaust pipes, I didn't specify whether they came out of the same or different sides, principally because I really don't care. The E90 335d had the same one-each-side arrangement as the 335i. The F30 335d had two on one side. I do recall the internet exploding at around that time. The E31 323i had twin exhausts, one each side. The E30 323i had two next to each other, on the side. However the X2 18d and 220i F45 Active Tourer have one on each side. In fact all of the X1 and X2 range have an exhaust outlet each side. (As did the original Volkswagen Beetle. I wonder if they argued about it endlessly?) And the E39 540i Sport had one outlet on one side, and the non-Sport didn't even have one at all. It goes on. There really is no rule, despite people desperately scratching around for one, so they can quell the voices... especially as the mighty M340i shares not not only general exhaust placement with a piddly 318d, but also wings, doors, chassis and lights. That must sting. FWIW I think the 40i's diesel train rectangular exhausts look like plastichrome tosh. I'd rather some sensible exhausts, I'm not a ricer |

The taillights look much better tinted. It definitely looks like a Lexus from the rear, but it's like BMW's saying, "Copy us, fine. Will copy your best looking car and do it better." The G20 body kit is spectacular. The headlights are menacing. With M Performance parts the kit looks even better. I have a major problem with the G20's grille though. It's way too big. The lips are too thick. They look like Mick Jagger's lips. The connected grille looks like a knockoff imitation. It looks cheap. For a car that has nice looks everywhere else, the grille completely ruins the car's curb appeal. But it's all about the drive so who cares about aesthetics, right? Someone who's shelling out big money for a nice car. There's no way I'd spend a big amount on a car that I don't think looks great. I just don't see how BMW feels that these extra large grilles on new models is the way to go. They don't look cunning or aggressive at all. They look like big floppy mouths. They aren't even kidney grilles anymore. They're Kia Stinger grilles. Except the Kia Stinger's grille actually looks sporty.

Perhaps BMW can fix that by nailing a loudhailer to the bonnet that plays back the sound of a man yelling BAAAAAAARRGHHH as it drives by. They can use the ASD module for it. Just so we know how hard and menacing it is, and how we should get out of its way, or it'll - what, presumably hit us off the road? Pretty pathetic |

I see a leather dash. I wonder if "full leather" will be a US option? I just test drove a launch edition Jaguar i-Pace with the full leather interior and it was superb. The tendency for the US is not allowing a full leather interior on cars smaller than a 5. It completely changes the character of the interior and IMO well worth a $3K cost---IF it's even available.
