Nothing to do with that , it's the connected drive servers CarPlay working flawlessly for me so far on -552 ( uk connected drive )

My dealership just called and announced that ConnectedDrive is releasing CarPlay to eligible cars in batches because there are so many cars to have CarPlay. He told me that CarPlay will be available on my car in a few weeks so the only thing we / i can do now is wait… ^^

Just got back from the dealership in Sweden, they said that they have a lot of these updates booked right now but had no clue if carplay would work afterwards. When I picked up the car I tried to connect my phone but no carplay. Immediately I removed my iPhone from BMW (and BMW from iPhone), power cycled iPhone and did a full vehicle reset on the car. When it booted up again I had Android Auto and Apple Carplay under apps and it started immediately. See photos below. Note however, my version number which I got from the dealership is 03/2022.53.

That's the version you need and eventually everyone will get.
I'm very lucky it all worked in my car from day one.

Yes for S15A cars ( 5 series, x3 ) the istep is -553.

The version for S18A cars is -552 ( 3 series, x5 etc )

Thanks! 530e Touring, really happy with it now that the carplay is working. Much better compared to my old 2017 520d Touring (where I installed a carplay MMI unit to get carplay working, for sale if anyone's interested )

I had the dealer update 2 weeks ago when I took my car in for its running in service. When I picked it up it had the Wi-Fi enabled but no smartphone intergration in the booked services. Also shows rsu not available and needs dealer to activate. See pic below. Any ideas if the update didn't work correctly?

If you haven't done it already i recommend that you perform a reset vehicle data and then try to update apps & services. Otherwise you would need to contact your dealership.

Still no joy for me. In contact with my dealer and he gave me the same steps as here. Engine running and press vol knob for 30+ seconds.

I do not see Smartphone or CarPlay in the bookable services on the MyBMW site. I get the 'not available for this vehicle' message if I follow the link for the CarPlay option in this thread.

What is anyone else seeing? Do you need to see this option or do some people have CarPlay but no bookable service?

Have tried full data reset but to no avail. Looks like another trip to the dealer 😡
