Thank you!

No need to upgrade the exhaust system. It sounds great. People are constantly telling me how fantastic it sounds and I love it now. I liked it before but it's an essential mod

It's fine day to day. I do like the grumble when in comfort. Obviously in sport it's no different.

So does this make it louder in Sport or is it the same and just makes comfort sound like Sport mode. Since I drive in sport + 90% of the time is this necessary? Maybe I'll just disable the fake noise

No, same in sport. Comfort sounds different because no or lower ASD but that's it. No pops and bangs in comfort either.

Depends where you live I suppose. Mine has been electrical taped for 6 months and it's still on there perfectly. And I tucked the cable under the heat shield.

I just taped the pins and shoved it back in the valve, will probably have to re-do at some point but it's been working fine.

I found and read this thread just the other day and tried out this mod. On my 2021 G22 M440, there is an Engine Sound menu that allows some amount of control over the valve and effectively allows one to run with valve open in all modes including Eco if so desired. There is a difference in sound after disconnecting the valve still, because even in Sport+ mode there is some logic that varies the valve opening based on RPM and/or load so even in Sport+ its not fully open all the time. This is especially noticeable right after cold start where initially there are some bassy sounds right after the cold start rpms comes down but the engine is not warm. It actually sounds pretty cool but I notice that this sound doesn't last and after the engine is warm that bassy sound at cold idle is gone. Before the mod, I never heard that at all. While I think the mod has improved the sound in the low to mid RPM, mid to redline RPM sound mostly the same. What you gain in some lower RPM sound is the loss of being able to just chill and do the quiet refined luxury car part, on those days where you just want calm, quiet and relaxing ride home when traffic is backed up with no chance to rev. Is this mod worth doing, I would say yeah, it's a free upgrade overall in sound quality. Does it give you any real volume? Not as much as I'd hoped. One option that I've not seen mentioned here are the valve controllers from Dinan, or Dahler. This would give you full manual override whenever you want but still have the option to run stock functionality. If you want significantly louder sound I would say look elsewhere as the difference seems fairly subtle to me, inside the car anyways. Maybe it sounds much louder outside but that doesn't improve my driving experience.

Super cheap, quick, and very easy! Like I said, the sound level only increased slightly, but it's enough to make you smile that much more when you're just cruising around in comfort mode!
Hey, I'm looking at ordering the part (https://www.bmwpartsdirect.com/oem-p...00-18302411427) and I just wanted to double check with you if this is the right part. Also, how did the installation process go? No CELs?

Someone said it has a capacitor or something like that in it. Maybe stops it from showing a soft code. Apparently your BMW dealer can also get you one as it's a genuine BMW part. If you are looking for the part on their webpage type in the product number not the name. 18302411427
Hey Paul,

I'm looking at getting the same part as you, is this the correct part?

https://www.bmwpartsdirect.com/oem-p...00-18302411427

Also, how was the installation process? This doesn't void the warranty right?
