We're months away, rumor has it G22 is revealed next month, June 2020. Then waiting for US delivery.

Call it insulation, or call it stupendous competence, but the M3 chewed 1.1 seconds off the 911’s best Laguna lap time and was quicker through the lane-change maneuver.
The 911 have since significantly moved upmarket in both performance and price, so a lot of folks seem to forget (or even be unaware of) those times.

Troll Instagram for #g22 hashtags to see what pops up. This pic shows that the grill appears to have slimed down from the concept.

The camo on that car looks particularly pretty. Much better than the other 7 or 8 videos.

CanAutM3 is correct here.

It wasn't that long ago that journalists regularly put the M3 and 911 against each other in comparison tests.

Indeed, even BMW themselves internally considered the 911 Carrera a competitor to the M3 as recently as the E90/E92.
From BMW's internal Product Argumentation document for the E9x M3:

We've already known that since, I dunno, 6+ months ago at least. The production grille never looked like the concept grille.

The M still offers that to this day. Nothing has changed as far as those attributes are concerned. I would take an M4 over any lower level/non-GT 911.

Well... not a G22, but if you put this picture side by side with the one above then one certainly looks a lot more 'slim and subtle' than the other:

Possibly that is just due to M4 vs regular 4 series, but I also think the image above (render, not photo?) looks a little toned down compared to this one:

I think that's right. Even an end of cycle F82 is relatively on par with a base level 992 in performance. I've been looking at the 992s and it's hard to justify the premium unless you step into the S model...then it's quite a bit of premium. The new M3/4 will be within spitting distance of that car, I imagine.

The grille in the leaked BMW images look just like what we've seen for months on transport trucks, etc.

To me they look like almost exactly the same car just photographed from a different angle and with a different level of wide angle distortion.

Agree on performance and track capability. Even the 992 base offer a superior quality and precision feel vs the/my F80 IMO though based on my own test drive of a base 992 Carrera. Lovely car.

Indeed, performance is not necessarily quality or feel. Porsches are hands-down the highest quality, best feeling cars on the planet - at least at any level of scale.

Case in point, local dealer is offering a 2012.5 991.1 base 911, 7MT...stickered at 91k. Has 91k miles, is in very good shape...price is $43k. I suspect they may get close to that. That just doesn't happen for any other brand.

Really? I don't know. Now, I would take any e9x or earlier M3 just simply due to NA nature of them and their inherent qualities. Reliability plus drop-dead looks? Man, can't beat the 911, especially when compared to the last gen M4. Don't know jack about this new M4, but prelims are concerning.

For me, I'm partial to the GT's. That's just what I like. Regular 911's don't resonate with me as much. I can see why they do with other people though. They are nice cars. I just know if I bought a regular 911, I still wouldn't be satisfied and I would constantly have GT envy. Wise people always say, "Buy what you want the first time. You'll save money that way."
