Thor has arrived! Volvo v90 d5 r design.
Will try and upload more photos when I have time to resize them. Initial thoughts are: Very nice interior, much nicer than my old F31 3 series but not really a fair comparison I guess. Seats are v comfy but need adjustable bolsters and I love the multiway lumbar support. Good level of kit as standard. Has flappy paddles as well! Big tablet screen is a doddle to work and easy to find menus to play with. I can only assume its improved since the early road tests or the testers are computer illiterate. When going into reverse I am used to the parking sensor screen coming on which it doesnt in this but minor niggle. Only has front and rear sensors no camera. Engine has more poke than I thought it would which is good, it had only done 8 miles when it arrived so needs to loosen up but happily surprised. Its no 340i but on my short quick drives today gets the big old beast up to speed OK. Handling is much better than I thought it would be. Rides really well so far. Looks good, it does need 19inch wheels but I'll get used to the 18s with time and the lower r design suspension helps. Also needs tinted windows so have bought a set of car shades which help. I went for osmium grey which is nice but I wonder if saville grey would suit it better again I think it will grow on me but over all very smart. Front LEDS are v cool as are indicators. Rear indicators are old school bulbs made to look like LEDS. Overall I think im going to like it and its HUGE! Last edited by 225; 06-15-2018 at 12:43 PM.. |

It does look very under-wheeled (is that even a thing?) on the 18s. I know you are keeping the monthlies down but it definitely needs 19s as a minimum and ideally 20s.
Still.. very nice. We love our XC90. |

Volvo are doing some really nice stuff at the minute. I'm keeping my eye out for some XC40 deals and the new S60 looks like it could be nice.
Just need to convince the other half, she's saying it's an old mans car |

Certainly not my dream car but will allow me to get something with some real oomph next again, nicely co inciding with the new 3 touring being out for a bit and discounts around. It's so quiet in the cabin and at speed compared to the 3er as well even with a 4pot derv. |
