Surrey Rolling Road - Lots of cars dyno’d

Not my video, but came across this with a lots of bmw’s, M3/4’s and a few other cars. Some surprising results in some cases.

And guess who turned up........ our old friend CazuaLLUK at 9:00 with his E92 M3........

Thats without watching this video.

He reminded me of beatlejuice.

More weirdly is the guy with the cupra - has he shaved all his moustache and chin but left round the sides?!

My M4 ran 478bhp as standard, so I tend to agree!

Having actually watched it all the way through now, it's hard to say that SRR runs optimistic all the time. Plenty cars didn't fare so well, and some did. I do find the variability of outputs quite fascinating.

Knowing exactly what combinations of hardware mods and software mods actually make the difference is quite the minefield.

Im not surprised considering the same car had a 20 or 30 bhp difference between 2 runs one straight after the other on that dyno. It was mentioned on a thread on this forum back in 2017. I think you can only take the results as a very loose guide.

For me it doesn't seem to to give consistent results, a few guys cars I've tuned have always made more power on srr dyno around 5-7% more.

To get an accurate crank HP number you have to take the engine out and put it on engine dynamometer, that's what the manufacturer does.

WHP is what you should quote from a RR and generally only for showing a before and after tuning delta, these corrected and calculated, RR crank numbers are a nonsense.

Or of course figure your tunes to show the performance gain which is what actually matters.
