Extended Warranty for G20
I was looking through the extended warranty options for the G20? Looking for a 7yr/100K mileage coverage. Does the price increase by a lot when buying this coverage near end of factory warranty?
How is the BMW platinum coverage? I got quoted 5100 for 7yr/100k miles. Is this price negotiable from the dealer? I got quotes from Carchex(5300, 200 deductible Titanium Plus) and Endurance (4800, Platinum Plus) as well. Could you please advise? This is my first car. Attached the contracts for the 3 extended warranties. What are other good options? Last edited by bimmer21k; 04-23-2019 at 05:30 PM.. Reason: Adding attachments |

It’s not worth it at all. Look at BMW’s reliability ratings...they’re higher than Honda over the last few years (unless you get a v8 which isn’t available on G20 anyway)
Even if you have a few repairs after the warranty expires, if you go to an independent BMW specialist it’s extremely unlikely you’ll have even close to $5k in repairs. My E90 was 7 years old when it was totaled and the only repair it needed was a few gaskets and the transfer case blew. The gaskets repair was definitely less than $1k I can’t remember the exact amount but it was pretty cheap. The transfer case would have been $4k to fix but BMW covered it even though the car was out of warranty because it was a known defect and they wanted to make good on it. As a side note, I know you mention you’re from Seattle. BMW of Seattle is a bunch of clowns. Their service department couldn’t find that oil leak that I mentioned even though I knew it was losing oil. My independent guy found it in less than half an hour. They also crashed my car when it was in for an oil change and were very clandestine about what happened and the fix. They did do a great job on the repairs and even repaired some dents they didn’t cause so they did the right thing and gave me a 335 loaner until they could fix everything up, but I wouldn’t trust them for maintenance and repairs. |

I wouldn't even consider an extended warranty until your warranty is about to expire and you know you'll be keeping the car for a long period of time. You might decide to sell or it gets totaled before the warranty expires. Will the extended warranty allow to you get a full refund?
