Any way to track your BMW build for Australia?
I know this has been asked before but searching the forums only revealed old articles that no longer seem relevant with links that don't work properly.
I have the VIN of my new 330i which is being built in Munich. Does anyone know how to track its progress from Germany to Sydney, Australia? |

The dealer was able to let me know when the car had a build week and then when it was ready for shipping. He was then able to tell me the name of the vessel the car is on.
After that I used a maritime website (there are a few - just google) to track the location of the vessel. In Australia, once the car has docked, expect about two weeks of quarantine, then dealer prep etc before delivery. Congratulations and good luck with the new purchase. To give you an idea, I ordered my car at end of Feb, had the car built on 9th Mar and was waiting in Germany prior to being loaded on a vessel towards the end of March. It visited ports in UK, South Africa, Perth prior to arriving in Melbourne. The car was delivered end of May. But it was well worth the wait. |

My 330i shipped from the port of Antwerp on Hoegh Autoliners. It remained on the dock (code 193) for about 10 days before being loaded onto the ship.
The journey will take about 7 weeks as it goes to Souhampton, Santander, Durban, Freemantle, Adelaide, Melbourne and finally Port Kembla. Hoegh schedules can be found here ... https://www.hoeghautoliners.com/sailing-schedule You can locate your vehicle by typing in the VIN number into this page ... https://www.hoeghautoliners.com/my-cargo (assuming BMW are using Hoegh for your vehicle) Warning: tech geek stuff follows ... Wallenius Wilhelmsen (https://2wglobal.com) have removed the ability to search by VIN number. However, if you're a software engineer, you can use an API development tool like Postman and add in the cargo id field (oceanQuickSearchCriteria.cargoId) into the form post to search by VIN. This search also supports wildcards using %. ... or just ask your dealer for the ship name - easier but less satisfying |

Thanks for the info G20.rjm, I’ve just used it to find my car.
It’s on the ship, just about to stop in Kingston Jamaica, expecting to be in Port Kembla on the 3/10. Ordered on the last day of June, dealer says delivery in early November. |

Hi G20.rjm, did you eventually receive your car in October?
I ordered mine 2 weeks ago and was told it could arrive at the end of March, so pretty much 2.5 months. Cannot wait... |

My M340i was built on 16-Jan-2020 and will board a ship for Port Kembla, NSW on 2-Feb, arriving on 15-Mar. If you're in Melbourne, Brisbane or Perth then you might be on a slightly earlier ship. Do you know how to track the ships etc? This is the shipping company in case you didn't: https://www.walleniuswilhelmsen.com |

Ordered my 330e M sport back in June 2019, with 95% of the options.
Got told it arrived at the docks in Melbourne on 12/1/20 and would in quarantine. Just got notice that its arriving at the dealer next week. Production date is 2019-11-07. Will post pics as soon as I take delivery. Been a very long wait. |

Can I ask if you went through a broker or did it yourself through a dealer? |

The 330e was the best option for me, ticked most boxes. If the i4 or another full electric sedan was out I would gone with that. Petrol is getting too pricey and my free corporate servicing ran out on the S3, they were going to charge me $2k for next service. Also I've started to feel more guilty about my contribution towards climate change. So initially I went through a dealer and the quotes I was getting were well above 100k for the options that I wanted. I thought that was ridik for a 3 series. So I went through a broker, MBA Car assist. They gave me a quote of 85k with all the options. I then went to a dealer and showed them the quote, and they beat it by 1k. So I went with them. Little did I know that some of the options that I wanted hadn't actually made it to the production line yet, so apparently that's what caused the major delay. |

With the options, besides the two big ones (visibility and comfort) what else did you consider a must have? |

As for the options, I wouldn't consider them must haves, I just wanted them. With the 330e you get a lot of the extra options included: -M sport package, 19" alloys -Driving assistant professional - apparently it comes with the pseudo Autopilot feature -Parking assistant plus -Live cockpit professional -Connected package with apple CarPlay and wireless charging On top of those I got the: M Sport Plus Package (*doesn't have sport diff bc of electric motor) Comfort package Visibility Package Exclusive package - merino leather interior, galvanic controls, fine wood with silver something something trim. Gesture Control Full acoustic glazing Harmon Kardon surround sound system Lumbar support Heating steering wheel Tyre pressure monitor BMW Individual Exterior Line Aluminium satinated door seals The only options I didn't select were the solar glass, since I was getting tinting anyway, and the model line deletion. I wanted to get the rear heated seats but was told you can't option that with merino leather (doesn't make sense since front seats are merino and heated). And lastly the roller shades for the back windows, apparently not an option in Oz. I have a list of all the option codes if you want them, but it doesn't tell you what's standard and what's extra. |
