My heated steering wheel does not provide much warmth

Hi all,
It was a bit cold where I live last week, so I tried out my heated steering wheel on my 2020 M340i Xdrive. It was very weak. It only got mildly warm in a few places. Can others respond with their experiences? Is it just terrible, or should I take it in?

The heated steering wheel should provide a pronounced heat signature. If it feels lukewarm, take it to the dealer when a few other warranty items are on the list.

If it's like what it was on my M2 then it should be warm enough. Especially around the 9 and 3 position

It normally heats up in certains spots and then spreads to the full steering wheel.
How long did you have it turned on?

I had it on for about 20 minutes, plenty of time to fully heat up.

If it makes you feel any better the heated seats/steering on my dad's 750xi are pretty mediocre too. Both the wheel and seats only get lukewarm. I think this is brand specific.

Audi/Porsche seats and wheel gets blazingly hot though.

I accidentally hit the heated seat button last week for maybe 2 to 4 seconds. Seat was super hot. Heats extremely quick lol, faster than any I have experienced before.

After reading this thread I tried the heated steering wheel in my new car < three weeks old. Had it on for about 30 seconds and could feel the heat coming thru. Just wanted to make sure it worked....

Mine works exceptionally well. Heated seats as well. Just used both today. I have heated seats programmed to come on automatically under 65 degrees.

Nearly choked on my coffee, reading "under 65 degrees". That's still at Summer temperatures and shirt sleeve weather over here.

Lol figured someone up north would get a kick out of that. I live in Austin, TX and grew up in New Orleans, so to me that's cold

Is the heat adjustable? The heated seats have 3 levels of heat. I had a heated steering wheel in my x1 loaner and it felt nice without being scorching.

works for me

Seems just right to me... even for frigid temps here in Canada. My wife's '15 X3 got too hot so fast it was not comfortable for me. Now she has an '18 X3 and it is similar to my M340. As someone else said above: pleasantly warm. I like one I can keep on a long time and not have to turn off right away because it is burning me.

I wonder if it has to do with the thickness of the steering wheel in the M340. Mine also gets slightly warm. In my X5 it gets quite hot.

I’ve been using the heated steering wheel a lot this month and it’s not very warm. All of my previous cars had better heated steering wheels except my current Durango which is also just a little warm.

My hellcat is warmer everywhere from engine bay to heated wheel to heated seats and hell it even defrosts and heats those items during a remote start which the m340i does not.

I hear your complaint, american v8 cars just do winter comfort better, however I have to be able to get somewhere in the snow so m340i it is all winter.
