Limited Edition 330is Debuts in South Africa

Hey All,

thought this might be of interest.

At the 2019 BMW M Festival in South Africa, BMWSA took the wraps off a limited edition G20 330is.

Production is limited to 300 units only.

The team at the show had no further information, it will be launched as a 2020 MY Car.

It is in all likelihood a nod to the cult status E30 325is which was SA specific as we didnt get the M3.

I had posted some Images on Instagram (@bmw_mpower_fans).

We also got a first look at the M8 GC in the Flesh.

that looks pretty sick, i just wish the wheels were more concave. i dont know why they make them so flat...

I can only imagine the debates in SA about this car living up to the iS name and if it's diluting the iS badge or not.

I completely agree. I have a front lip and splitter on my F30 and it looks so much more aggressive

I think he means they didnt get an E30 M3 but got the E30 325is instead. A google search confirmed SA did not get the E30 M3.

Did they get the m340i? Looks like it has 20" rims. Might be an issue on pothole ridden roads. What are the specs does it get some sort of tune? If it has the m135i tune that would make it a replacement to some degree for the m340 but not the M3.

Yes, definitely better than the M Performance marketing gimmicks we have now. They're even listing those in ///M sections on their websites.

They also had the "si" moniker, too. E90 320si WTCC homologation special comes to mind.

E92 335is was a pretty special car too, in my opinion. Souped up N54 w/DCT and a great exhaust note.

Meh, looks like more brand dilution to me!

Unless there is something special under the hood and/or some type of performance tweek over the standard 330, this is just another "special edition" car to justify BMW's corporate marketing dept. job security.

If it is indeed a unique edition why launch it to such a small market?
