2 Series Gran Coupe Configurator is live

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Probably not much fanfare around this one, but the configurator for the 2er Gran Coupe is on the BMW USA website.

Not happening

Re the 2GC the UK configuration this has been online in the UK for some time and does represent value, it's no more than a 1 series hatch, car for car and option for option, whereas arguably a GC is up the chain and has the frames windows etc etc. I'm aware of the platform being the same etc but often the coupe versions just have a premium added regardless.

It is not a BMW for the enthusiast of the brand, or a BMW driver who enjoy the BMW caracter. It's going to be bought by a wannabe/girl/newtothebrand person. And it's not really bringing anything new or desirable to the table. The CLA at least looks good and more premium, would love to see the sales figures of these down the line.

The x2 M35 weighs about 150lbs more and dynos at 299 whp. With a lower center of gravity and less weight, this will be a really good drive (comparatively speaking). Not sure why people hate on these FWD-based models so much, they drive really well. BMW isn't forgetting it's RWD roots, it just needs cars to raise their MPG average and I think these deliver.

The only eye-brow raiser I see is the fact that this car only has a top speed of 130 when the top speed of the x2 m35 is 155 lol

Agreed.

BMW can't compete with the CLA45 AMG.

Until they converted this car to full electric, I'd give it a hard pass.

Meanwhile most 2020 models aren't even on the Canadian configurator.

I'm diggin' the wheels. I would like to have seen those on the M2C instead of the boat anchors currently offered as stock.

The new CLA looks nice in my opinion.

With that being said, I recently had one for a whole day. It has some major pitfalls: creaking interior plastics, driver's side wind noise due to poor insulation, and fixed headrests.

The boring driving dynamics are fine, but those other things are deal breakers.
