Production Begins For BMW 4 Series G22 and 5 Series LCI at Dingolfing
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com Press Release: No fewer than five new models celebrated their series launch at BMW Group Plant Dingolfing today. The first new addition is the BMW 4 Series Coupé, which continues the sports coupé tradition at the BMW site in Lower Bavaria with its individual and sporty character. Updated models of the BMW 5 Series Sedan, including the BMW M5 and the BMW 5 Series Touring, will come off the production line at the same time. All vehicles with four and six-cylinder engines will now offer not only sharper design, but also highly efficient 48-volt mild-hybrid technology – ensuring improved driving performance with better fuel economy and enhanced driving comfort. This will also benefit the new BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo, which impresses customers with its outstanding long-distance capabilities. Christoph Schröder, head of BMW Group Plant Dingolfing: “Launching production of five models at the same time requires precise planning and intense concentration across the entire plant. Despite the temporary suspension of production and one-shift restart under coronavirus conditions, we have managed to release the new BMW 4 Series Coupé, BMW 5 Series and BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo on schedule, with the highest level of quality. This is a tremendous achievement by the team in Dingolfing and the entire process chain that has earned my utmost respect." Video:

Awesome! Even the new grill looked good when you see it in these perspectives. Open up the order books!

The 4er really looks good in some angles than others. I think it would have helped if the grilles were more sharper and less rounded. I'm hoping this is something that is done for the LCI. Definitely can't wait until Q4 2020 to see this in showrooms!

I find myself trying really really hard to like it... looking for all the positives....
And then I just think, who am I kidding? It's horrendous. In the beginning I thought, hey that actually doesn't look too bad, and that color really helps. As soon as I saw the road test portion of it towards the end of the video I thought.... yup, still ugly.

I just think when it’s sitting on the ground and a lens is not trying to focus on the grill, it looks okay. Could have been a little smaller but I like the overall idea. Estimating from pics with a 4 inch high Euro license plate, the entire grill appears to less 18 inches tall.
I’m trying to figure out which iterations get fog lamps. Some M440i in the video have them and some don’t. I don’t seem them listed in the memo as a stand alone option for US cars but I think they make those air ducts look a little nicer than with the blacked out square. |

I'm still like 90% set on ordering Tanzanite blue, but damn if that Arctic color doesn't look a lot better in these pics than it did in the initial ones.

Interesting! my m2c is also being built at Dingolfing, should be finished this week. Looks like my car has seen the new 4 series before me.

Looks are growing on me. I think the biggest issue right now is that it's such a dramatic departure. Once people get used to it I think it's going to become more accepted. I think it's going to be a good seller.

Ok, good. Now that we got that over with, can we stop production and move on to the next design now? Surely they've already made as many of these 4's as they can sell? 🤷🏻

M2c is thinking: "How on Earth can we possibly be related? You're hideous and must have been adopted or a half sibling with the fugly half being that grille. I renounce you!"

It will definitely disown this particular sibling, will definitely have much more respect for the 5er LCI opposed to the monstrosity of the new 4er
