M340i - Replace my run flats with non-run flats?
Hi everyone, my m340 I came with Cinturato run flat tires. I’ve noticed that the two front tires have multiple air bubbles on the side walls!!! So I’m thinking I should replace them asap.
In your experience, do you think it’s best to replace all of them with non-runflat tires instead? Are those any better? Which brand/model would you recommend? Thanks in advance! |

Definitely change them. Run flats makes the ride uneasy on bumps and I have changed mine to non run flats and I like them. Only downside is not having a spare tire but I have a pump in my car just in case and if I do run into a flat tire, I may need to keep pumping the tire till I reach a tire shop.

I ordered the car with non-flats + a spare and couldn't have been happier. Definitively get rid of the runflats.

Just on this - I've had my M340i X in for some work this AM and they did a complimentary health check - check tyres, suspension, brakes etc.
It currently has runcraps on from new. Front tyres 5mm. The rears: 3mm. So lost 50% of tread. I've done 4200 miles. No track days, normal road driving. My MPSS4S on my previous M140i which was rear drive only lasted 12000 and I did like a spirited drive in that. Madness although a food excuse to get rid of the runcraps soon!

Late to the party here and new to the forum… I have run flats on the car and it was the only option. But I spec’d the spare tire with the intent of getting non-run flats. My only concern is bent rims. Has anyone had an issue with this? The autobahn is great but the secondary roads in Germany are terrible. Also, any recommendations on tires? I plan on swapping winter rims to summer tires and I’ve always gone for Michelin but I’m considering Vredestein.

I'm running Vredestein winters on my '16 GTI and am really impressed with them. Came from a set of Michelin Alpin's prior and while I liked the Michelins, the Vredestein price point and performance are a much better value.
I've got non-runflats on my '23 M340 and am going to be swapping them for Conti DWS06+s later this year. |

For those that ditched run-flats and don't have a spare, are you relying on roadside service, or did you get a plug set/jack/air pump (or find an aftermarket spare)?

I have the wheel and tire insurance so I have to buy my tires through BMW. I don’t want to burn through a set of summer run flat tires quickly. So I’m considering buying a set of normal performance tires. I do have roadside assistance and a pump in my car however, I spend a lot of time in Detroit and I don’t really want to blow a tire there and be on the side of the road if possible. I’ve had a flat once so far and it was nice being able to drive to the dealership instead of being stranded. That said I don’t want put $1500 bucks every other year by run flat tires and I’m considering normal performance tires if they last longer? I seem to remember someone on this forum recommending a doughnut that fits this car and can be thrown in the back of the trunk. Has anybody tried an option like this? Thanks! |

I'm not going with a spare. Honestly don't know how that works with xDrive. I'm sure it's fine for short distances, but not taking that chance. |

Yo, guys.
Runflats are so heavy, stiff and uncomfortable on regular roads. When I catch a screw the tire flats to zero. After that I do not see any advantage of runflat tire. I recommend to buy tire plugs and air pump. Refer to runflat and handling all m cars goes with regular tires I guess. |

Replacing my Bridgestone Turanze El450 RFT which were OEM - 225/40R19. These are worn almost to end of life at 28,000 miles.
New Run Flats were priced at $369.99 each. Instead purchased non-Run Flat Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4, same size for about $100 less per tire, and these have estimated mileage of 45K instead of 30K for the Run Flats.

This is exactly what I want to do for my m440; any rubbing with the slightly wider tire? Is it a square set up? Those Contis sound like the perfect choice. |
