@14:40 or so he talks about license plates and how they didn't like the asymmetry of offset mounting.

Then WTF is up with the radar thing being offset?!

Painful style of interview where the interviewer is totally distracted by interacting with viewers on the phone but I agree with pretty much everything the BMW guy says.

Thanks for posting it!

Agree. Very awkward interview especially questions unrelated to the designer’s role in exterior design. I think he answered the relevant questions though, and adequately explained the tram’s exterior design of the car.

Like the new 8th generation Corvette which is attracting buyers 20-25 years younger than the traditional a Corvette buyer, this new Bimmer may appeal to younger buyers who will keep the BMW 3/4 series sports sedans and coupes alive. That said... I am and old guy who has always appreciated the 318 and 325, but also finds the G22 a refreshing spin on the heritage of the 3/4 series cars.

I personally think all of the BMW grills have become less than attractive, but each model remains a great car in their classes.

I think the new G22 is fresh and will sell briskly. It’s an evolution of the heritage and has a contemporary kidney and even a minimalist Hofmeister kink.

Being a Corvette enthusiast who is considering a new M 3/4 series daily driver, I can compare this debate about the new G22 to the new C8 Corvette, which a lot of traditionalists are cursing, especially it’s Camaro like rear, but which is literally already sold out well into 2021

Cars evoke passion so this debate is understandable, but right now I’m liking the G22 over the G20.

A couple things that stood out to me:

1. The haunches. I liked the way it looked in the video (c-pillar to wheelwell and such).

2. The seats. The leather looked better, seats looked more comfortable, etc.

I really like the car. When you're being shown around it like this you can tell just how muscular it looks.
I feel that's something most photos so far haven't really been able to portray.

Also, those M sport seats look splendid, although from what I've seen in the Belgian configurator they're only available in black and cognac, which I feel is a bit of a shame, honestly.

But again, I'm really looking forward to seeing, and probably owning, this car in real life.

Also, off topic, I know, but holy heck can we please not film things in portrait mode?

No they don’t have to. They do this with every model.

The 4 is the best looking BMW right now. It looks mean, aggressive, expensive, luxurious. I don’t like the back very much though, as it’s too ordinary and doesn’t match with the bold front fascia.

If they're only available in black or cognac, I guess that settles the ivory or cognac internal debate with myself.

I would've loved to get them in ivory myself. So yeah, damn shame.

Somehow this new window line and the removal of the kink look like an effort to be un-BMW for no particular reason. I mean, this looks like anything else but a BMW from this angle:

edit. He has a point thought..the "hey look at my new BMW" design will work for some, so it will hit the mark for those people, just not for others. Needed to be fair in that respect.

Here comes a new slew of bad jokes relating to this design to make lite of the situation. Unavoidable I guess...

"Humor is a way of distancing yourself from something and making it seem like it's not quite as real".

Not necessarily a bad thing in moderation (guilty party).
