OTA update for 330e
I've had an OTA update today for my Oct 2019 330e, bringing it to 11/2019.70 which though not the latest version is at least progress of sorts.
Anyone else had the same? |

Not a great deal in it, but I guess those if us behind the latest release need to get some if the interim ones before the much vaunted one with Android Auto etc....... 🙄

Probably a placebo but after the OTA software update the car seems more keen on throwing charge back in to the battery when driving in electric mode.
I noticed a few times this afternoon when driving locally that my battery range would increase when coasting, braking etc which I’ve never seen before. Like I said, probably a placebo or I’m losing the plot. |

Updated mine today too. Seems odd that we’re still running 2019 software as a latest update when we’re 7 months in to 2020. Still, whatever

I downloaded the update to the Connected Drive app on my phone but it seems to be taking ages to transfer to the car...........anyone know typically how long this part takes ?
iDrive just states something like - ' preparation completed - you'll be informed when the update is ready for install ' 3g |

I have the same problem. Downloaded to my phone in about 5 mins, then I put my phone in the car, with the ignition on, and the app indicated it was uploading to the car by wifi.
After 2 hours, no progress. I'm in the car again today for 2 hours driving, so will try again, and see what happens. I think its pretty odd not to have the app show progress of loading to the car, or that the car's screen doesn't give any information clearly to indicate anything is happening......... |

No update yet
Really odd, I've yet to receive on the app or the car any OTA update.
Currently sitting on 11/2019.40 - G20 330e Oct 2019 build (UK). Any suggestions to make the BMW systems push it my car? |

I left the car, locked it and went in the house. Came out about 1 hour later and it pinged up with another notification to start update. Not too sure if the car has to be rested for an amount of time or the battery has to be at a certain level (mine was still showing 22miles of range when it finally updated.) Word of warning though, don’t sit in the car while it updates as when it reboots it comes up with light errors and cannot charge notifications which were a bit scary. Once I locked, unlocked and started the car the notifications all disappeared. |

Check your vin against UK recall, my car was in the same build month and when checking I was told to bring the car in so they could put a sticker on the cable and they updated to 07/2020

I’m pleased you managed to get your update... but infuriating that BMW had no idea what I wanted when I told them to do this for me. Exactly same build/age of car, in for exactly the same recall sticker on the 3 pin plug charging cable... absolutely no clue what I meant when asking for this!! Despite them having done it twice before for me on previous software versions. By complete coincidence the next day I got the OTA update from 2019.11.30 to 11.70... but ridiculous inconsistency and poor understanding from BMW Dealerships on this!! How hard can it be for their representatives to grasp that the operating system for their cars, that they sell and service, has regular updates, that they can access and force to the cars!? And how hard is it for them to explain to customers that the OTA updates will work but are significantly behind the ‘cabled/plug in’ updates available to dealerships!? I must have told the service guy dealing with me about half a dozen times exactly what I wanted and how it was done before. Made a special point of referencing it as many times as I could and even saying I don’t think you understand what I’m asking/telling you... just didn’t register. Infuriating when the same garage has updated me no problems before! |

https://www.bmw.co.uk/en/footer/quic...e-recalls.html should automatically tell you that you need 'an open technical enhancement' I was told to bring my car in but no mention of the cable, when I got there they said they needed to change a module on the cable so I went home to get it, (9 mile round trip) only for them to say it's only a sticker that needs putting on. Went to pick up the car and the drive had been updated but they forgot to put a sticker on the charger! |
