So I need my new '21 X3 M40i by the end of March this year. My current lease ends March 17 (I'm not extending it).

I'm wondering what folks here have been experiencing from the date of order to the date of delivery (and where the delivery takes place). I'm in Indianapolis. My dealer told me around Feb 14 would be good to place the order to get a March 17 delivery. Does that sound right?

I also want to get my windows tinted (which I always do but I know X3 and all SUVs come with tint...but I will do the front windows ) and install kayak rack as I'm taking this X3 and my kayak down to the outer banks for spring break.

My M40i took just under 4 weeks from order to me driving. My dealer used a slot already slated for production but from seeing other posts the 4 week window is a good estimate.

Keep in mind dealers get a set number of production slots for each model and they may have sold all their January slots, hence the push to February.

From my experience, I ordered right before Thanksgiving and the car arrived at the dealership in PA exactly 3 weeks later in mid December. You can always return your leased car early and cancel your insurance on it. Order 1 month early and if the car arrives in 3 weeks, just return your lease 1 week early.

For your current lease, make sure you complete the vehicle inspection for it ASAP. You can usually start as early as 60 days before lease end. Many car brands these days hire third parties to come to your house to perform the inspection free of charge. Appointments can be set with a simple call to their lease end hotline. Once inspection is done, you'll get a better idea if you need to do any repairs or replace tires etc. The report will tell you the charges.

Do what you got to do on your leased car, then schedule a date for turn in at your dealership. A bill will be mailed to you later on for things like the disposition fee and any damages you failed to fix.

For the west coast, it takes 5-6 weeks because of the train shipping. East coast is by truck which is faster. Not sure how it works for IN. If they ship by truck, the dealers timeline seems accurate. This assumes an available production slot at time of order.

My 2020 was ordered in late February 2020 and was built and delivered to the Chicago area in less than 3 weeks. Arrived at the dealership 1-1/2 days after loading on a truck.

We ordered it December 9, delivered to dealer last Monday, we will pick it up with windows tinted this Saturday January 23.

Just an FYI to those waiting on production. I got my production allocation for a 2021 X3MC on 12 JAN and today in went into production. So, a 9 day wait. Doesn't seem bad at all in the current COVID environment.

I ordered my X3 last week of December and production is slated to finish 2/1 and then it goes on the truck.

The key is to be able to use a slot the dealer already has for production, this will be the quickest turn around, we use a slot on our X3 and will have ours in 4 weeks. I did the same thing on my 335I used an slot which was to starting the a couple of days after I place my order and got it in 6 week including shipping from Germany.

I'm in the same boat, build day was 1/21, dispatched 1/24 and ETA is 2/8.

The website runs on a bit of a lag, either your CA or the genius line will have a precise ETA.

I ordered mine last Friday and right now it is in schedule for production. The bmw genius told me it will be going into production in March 1st week. But my dealer says it would be early than that. I don't know if I can trust my dealer or genius
