Has anyone done PCD and not taken delivery?
I know that may sound odd, but this is the question:
My friend is ordering an X3, but he lives in San Francisco. That is not a fun drive so ideally it would be best if BMW would just ship the car there and he could still do the performance center stuff. Is that scenario possible? It doesn't seem worth it to pay the destination charge and then pay another $1k to ship the car to SF. Thanks!

If you don't want to drive your ULTIMATE DRIVING MACHINE across this beautiful country you probably should be in a Toyota.

It is possible, I considered it because driving on summer tires in the dead of winter wasnt ideal. You can do PCD and get slotted for BMW's carrier or choose your own (potentially less $$$).
His SA can arrange for it. |

I'm in the process of ordering an X3. PCD with the order. As I've been shopping, I've had three dealerships advise the PCD is no longer available. Email from PCD says they're still good. So, car was ordered today. Once I have a build number I'll send the PCD guy (Josh) an email with the build #, dealer and who the CA is. Then, watch for smoke.

I am scheduled to pickup my X3M40i in SC next Friday. Everything is the same except I am not sure if the factory tour is on the schedule still. Originally I wasn't going to do factory delivery however I figured instead of paying the $995 delivery charge I should get something out of it and switched to it half way through my negotiating. I probably would have had the car by now, SC delivery added a couple weeks because of appointments. The car has been built for 2-3 weeks now.

I would assume you are 5-6 weeks out, that's about what it was for me once I setup PCD. I had an appointment for this week on a Thursday but I wanted a Friday delivery (hardest day to ask for) and it pushed me back another week or so.

Not sure, that's just what I have read a few times. $995 should very well pay for the hotel night, meals and such I agree.

Comments from the PCD site say the destination charge is still paid to the dealer, whether you pick it up in SC or not. I thought that was odd, but it is what it is. The dealer isn't really losing money then , right?

Not sure, and I really don't have any knowledge of how it works between BMW and the dealer. But if the destination charge is paid to the dealer maybe BMW takes some of that towards the hotel and meal costs. Again, I am just speculating. In the end PCD is a great program and experience and i would encourage anyone who can take advantage of it.

as the X4 LCI interior pics came out (assuming X3 will be same?), and I'm halfway through my lease, I'm starting to dream again. It's on the bucket list to do a PDC pickup (the dream was Germany, waited too long and X's are made in SC) so I'll settle for SC. Back when PDC was in Munich, there was different vehicle pricing that was used, and actually turned out to be a pretty good deal. it didn't effect the dealer allocation and the localized residual value was used with the lowered PDC pricing (they subtracted the vehicle marketing burden) so the lease depreciation was pretty low. Does anyone know if there are similar programs with the SC PDC, or is it the good ol' dealer discount dance and you pick it up there?

It's what I'm currently going through. Pricing isn't affected.
