Nice video -- btw you press the gas cap button on the 30e because it has a pressurized fuel line. It has to vent the system so you can open it up.

Too superficial. It is amazing to see how unprepared car salesmen are. Still have not found a good video explaining the differences between the 30i and the 30e and how a PHEV actually works.

Don't take me wrong, pls. The kind of information you gave in the video is just ok for regular customers. We are all "BMW experts" here. Wish salesmen were more prepared in general, but you did a great job explaining the basics (aside for the few misconceptions). I recon it is hard to be on top of every single model.

I like your suit though. Peace.

I know it is easy to say shitty sales person bla bla bla. As a sales person who is now on the inside i get why we get a bad rep. But to be honest, BMW does not train us to know all of things that you expect. The only thing my training includes on vehicles is the price tag. Everything else i know is from my own research.

FYI not everyone on the forums are "experts", i know i wasn't when i first started coming on here.

Take is easy on all those shitty sales people who are just trying to make money like every other job.

7 months and 7k miles into my 30e, so if you need to know any details, just ask. I can't compare to the 30i, but I'd imagine it's a bit more sluggish in ICE only, although faster acceleration with eboost mode and you'll lose some trunk volume. Otherwise it's a cracking choice if you like quiet, serene driving and can do the majority of your miles in electric (I've averaged 80%).

I agree dude - it's "sales people are there to sell cars". A certain high level amount of knowledge is required to sell the beast, but to expect a sales person to know the intricacies of every system is, I believe, somewhat unrealistic. It's the same in any profession, like I work for a software vendor and sales people do not, and cannot, know deep-dive information about all the sub-systems in their wealth of permutations and constantly evolving software changes. That's what genius is for (although don't get me started on that). To be fair, these types of forums are the best route to knowledge :-)

Nice job doing your own research though, for that sales dude with deeper knowledge surely will get more wins. Still lovin' the suit :->

Maximum speed is 213km/h
Seems to be electronically limited
On the other hand the 0-200 is really easy in xtraboost mode
Any other experience?

Good evening Andydron

The 45e is an awesome car from a hybrid perspective and has greater electric only range than the X30e.

I have a 2021 30e which I really like. This is my fourth X3.

It takes about 8-9 hours to charge from empty (11-13 kWh) using a level 1 Clippercreek 15 amp charger at 12 amps/hour. The dash says I generally have about 16 miles of electric only driving but I generally get about 4 miles of additional hybrid electricity on my drive to work.

7700 miles on the odometer and I am averaging about 58 mpg.

Question:
When you go at highway speed, is better to force the car in sport/or battery mode in order to recharge the battery, or just Hybrid and that’s it even at higher speed?

Hybrid tends to be the most economical from what I saw because it recuperates energy in the most efficient way. Charging the battery is not ideal from an energy standpoint because efficiency comes into play and it's always smaller than 100%.

It depends what you are trying to achieve… There is a "battery hold" function which will keep the battery at a desired level (by recharging on the go) - for example if you know you are driving into an urban environment at the end of a long journey. Otherwise I would always recommend "anticipatory hybrid" mode - using the Sat nav to decide when to switch between ICE and battery mode. My target is always to return home with zero battery miles left.

On the highway, I always drive Hybrid, either in Comfort mode or in M/S. In comfort mode, you still have enough power to overtake slower vehicles, especially with the extra power boost from the electric drive train. M/S on the other hand seems more efficient for power regeneration.
