2021 X3 M40i-How to get rear camera view to automatically go away after parking?

I've noticed that after I've backed into a parking spot and put the car in "Park", the rear camera view remains in the control display. I have to manually hit the "P" button on the center console to get the control display to go back to what was previously showing. How do I get the rear camera view to automatically go away after the car is parked? I can't find anything in the settings to do this. Thanks in advance.

I think it's normal. Even after backing up and go into Drive, its stay on for a few seconds.

I'm referring to parking. After I have backed into a spot and put the car in Park, the rear camera view is not going away on it's own. On my 2019 X3 M40i, the rear camera view went away on it's own after I put the car in Park.

Same on mine

Not sure what the issue is though...you park the vehicle, rear cam view stays on the screen and you shut the car off. Screen goes black and you exit.

Thanks. My issue is that I don't always exit the car after I park. If I stay in the car and leave it running, I want the Control Display to revert back to whatever selection was showing before the rear camera view came up (e.g., Media, Navigation, Car menu, etc.).

Does anyone know how to get the rear camera view to turn off automatically after I put the car in Park?

Not do-able as far as I know. Just press the Menu button or just press the rear cam button - 1 second & done

I just press the menu button. I think the Back button should also work.

The parking sensor and reversing camera view normally resets after a set distance is driven (forward) or a set speed is reached. The defaults are 50m (metres) and 10/15 kph . These defaults can be reduced through coding but there is no option to remove them or set to zero. The views do not appear to have time limit options which can be coded and reduced. In brief I do not think this can be resolved through coding. There appears to be no iDrive menu to remove camera view when gear selector changes from reverse.

In terms of manually switching off the reversing camera view, press the iDrive controller “back” button twice. I agree it can be irritating, you reverse in a parking spot and engage park and are locked out of the iDrive menu.

Do you know what module these can be coded under? I just did a bunch of coding a few days ago and don't remember seeing these options?

I think they are under ACSM5 / 3300 PKM. v_schwelle_2_kmh (initwert [0E]) and d_schwelle_2_kmh (initwert [0A]). The first determines the switch-off speed for the rear view camera (15 km per hour). The second determines the switch-off distance for the rear view camera (50 meters; I think the option works in 5 meter increments).

Hi
I have not checked exact location in G01 modules (I last coded for an F series) but should be in body domain controller. If they are not offered in basic mode then they can be found in advance mode (you can search “threshold”).
Rear view camera speed switch-off threshold
Rear view camera distance switch-off threshold
PDC speed switch-off threshold
PDC distance switch-off threshold

For some other, older and different model BMW these were found in rear electronic module.

OK, I will check those modules. Thanks!
