These are my top three choices of a dad vehicle that has a decent ride compliance for Dad Duty. I have that same order in my top 3 right now 18, or 19 M5, then 19/20 GLC 63 suv, then 19 ctsv. Obviously looking to buy used, and the the purchase won't be for like another year, but I'm a car nerd and would like to think about the decision while I read about these cars, and love doing so. My current garage(for me) is a modded MK5 GTI, modded Mazdaspeed Miata, modded Forester XT. Unfortunately the wife has motion sickness which I'm not happy about, but it isn't her fault she doesn't like a stiff ride. She got mad at me when I put stiffer springs on the Forester because of the extensive mods. I had to stiffen up the suspension due to the power it was laying down, and she told me I ruined my only family car. After that argument I sold my modded C7 ZO6 to eventually get a different family car. We're in the process of selling my house selling her house and getting a bigger house for the married life. We recently got married. One 9 year old female that likes cars. Being that I have a modded Forester xt I rather have a spot sedan.

I’ve had a V and absolutely loved it. I was considering a V about a year ago and took my wife (she was pregnant at the time) to test drive one. It just got done raining and the road was slick. The car got loose (controllably) a few times and she was not happy about it. For a family car, get AWD. The GLC is ok if you want an suv, but let her get that.
I love my M5, except the squeaky breaks- so if you can find one with Ceramics- go that route |

My previous car was a C63 and I drove the GLC 63 as well. The ride quality of the two was the same. For me the M5 has a categorically better ride quality than the AMG. The C63 on comfort chassis feels even harsher than the M5 does on sport chassis.
The ride quality of the two cars is like chalk and cheese. My partner tends to motion sickness and she found the C63 a trial, whereas the M5 much less so. If you're going to choose between the two based on ride quality, the M5 wins hands down. Oh, and I own the competition version, which is even stiffer than the standard M5 |

Thanks for the replies. Yeah the M5 base is at the top of my list, but the thread talking about no more exhaust pops is discouraging, but will probably have to get a M5 anyways do to more comfortable ride for the wife.

Talking about noise, one of the other big differences between the two is cabin noise / road noise: there's much more road noise and cabin noise in the 63 than in the M5. The steering in the 63 is also much heavier - there is no adjustable steering and it feels like the M5 in sport mode steering. |
