RaceChip service question
Hey folks:
Bringing my M340i in for its first service. Do I need to remove the RaceChip? Don't want any questions. |

While the presence of engine output manipulation can be detected post piggyback removal...the dealer/BMW would need to do a deep dive to detect it. On routine service the likely hood of them doing that (without cause) is super slim.
Leave it in and your car will likely be flagged just like it would if your car was flashed...that said a flag is not an issue and does not pro-actively create warranty issues unless your piggyback (JB4, JB+, RaceChip, Active etc) can be blamed for some down stream mechanical failure. Your mainstream piggybacks (aforementioned and others) and flashes (Mission Performance, BM3, MHD, Carbauhn, Dinan etc) with a basic stage 1 or 2 over the last many years have been proven to not cause issues with these (B58) cars. As an example my last several b58 powered cars have been Mission tuned and I have had zero issue with dealer visits or lease turn in - but the tune has also not created any issues for the car. Ran just like stock albeit with more power. And trust me I ran them hard ![]() That said...I would pull it from the car, no need to invite unnecessary attention and I'm confident you'll be a okay ![]() Or leave it in and get flagged - doesn't matter much... Just my 2-cents based on what I've experienced - hope it helps ![]() Last edited by chenry; 05-17-2021 at 11:37 AM.. Reason: clarification |

Unless you made the advisor aware of the piggyback and they approved it, i recommend removing it
