Have my JB+ set around 75-80% and decided to pump 1.5 gallons of E and mix it with 91. Not sure if it's a mental thing but I actually feel a slight difference. Any of you with similar experience?
If so when refilling tank again how do you calculate E mix if the quarter tank that's remaining was already mixed previously. Don't want to over do it that's why.

Not mental you're making more power!! - my Mission Performance flash loves loves loves E30 and I've seen the dyno difference between our California 91 crap gas and a 91/E85 mix with the flash. While I don't have to run it (e30) with the flash, because it auto adjusts, it's sure alot more fun when I do. The same will hold true for your piggyback. I typically run an e30 blend to get the full 525+ crank HP out of the car but if I have hundreds of miles to drive for kiddos soccer I just pump 91 and don't care about the lost HP

That said if you want to be 100% accurate on your blend you would have to measure before you pump however we really don't need to be that sensitive if we are after E30 (some variance is not going to matter). Here's a photo of what I made and use to pump E85 and 91 CA gas to achieve E30. My assumption here is that E85 is actually giving us E80 (this was based on a test I did at the station I typically pump e85 at)

As an example (and to your question) If you have a 1/4 tank you'll need approximately 10 gallons to get her to full so I look at the ratio and pump accordingly.

If you want to work your own numbers simply google "e85 blends" and you will come up with a couple calculators (I would post links here but they have been blocked)

E50 is about the most I have seen people successfully run on an otherwise stock engine (albeit with a piggyback or flash) for daily driving. But at that level you would be well advised to be pulling logs for overall engine health etc...

That said Dinan claims to have a full e85 tune for our stock engines but I haven't seen anyone run it and there have been no logs published etc...so Mission successfully tested full e85 but wasn't comfortable with the logs for a public offering for a daily driver so never released it. Personally I'm happy with my e30

I don't have an M340i but a 330i and I just recently added in E85 to get an E30 mix on a JB4 and it is a very noticeable difference. Once I install the EWG connector for the JB4 this week, will hopefully get to a custom tune on map 6. Just wish the JB4 auto adjusted like flash tunes between E30 blend and just 93 but I guess thats what switching maps on the fly is for =).

How long will the stock cats last running e85? Especially for Dinan, considering their all about keeping emissions parts stock.

Ethanol burns cooler and releases less emissions so I imagine much longer. Unless your tuned then you'll be pushing more air. So less longer

Stupid question - Is the blend point different for 93 gas? Would I still be safe adding just ~1.5 gallons of E85 on a stock M340 with a JB+?

Or since I am starting with 93 will the E85 not make much of a difference?

Same logic applies, 91 and 93 both have up to 10% ethanol

a 1:13 ratio of E85 to 91 will not create any issues for you. I run 4:10 in my car (and the last two B58 cars I've had) to achieve E30ish and have had zero negative experiences

note: I figure a full tank is about 14 gallons but I know that's off a little bit but not enough that it bothers me

Appreciate the replies, I've never really messed with E85, but now that there is a station near me that has it I am intrigued. Wondering if those that really understand the inner workings of the B58 (2021 version) could answer a couple more questions on the variables.

There are several JB+ threads on here (here's one), but it seems fairly well established that some sort of limiter (torque?) steps at a certain point when a JB+ is set at 100% and reduces the power/boost. So with that said, here are my questions:

1. Are we saying that adding E85 to a JB+ overcomes this power/boost reduction many have experienced (set @100% or otherwise)? I know E85 causes more fuel to be needed and I am wondering if the limiter some have bumped up against has to do with fuel delivery.

2. I realize the OP is specifically talking about a JB+ @75%-80%, which I think is where people have been seeing the best results, but am I wrong in thinking that adding E85 to a JB+ @75% would likely result in the same issue as a JB+@100% and thus a reduction in power/boost? Full disclosure, I am less clear on exactly how E85 changes combustion/power compared to how the JB+ works.

3. What sort of gains would one see with an E85 mix without a JB+? Does the B58 have a sensor that adjusts for E85 - I don't assume it is a "flex fuel" compatible engine, correct?

100% I think you're right about 15.5 if I recall correctly (too lazy too look up) but in that I cannot start a 91 (Cali crap gas) to e85 blend to achieve E30 in an absolutely 100% dry tank I've just come to use a total of 14 gallons as my overall target.

An an example if my car says I have 10 miles to go I assume I am near empty and I pump 10 gallons of 91 to 4 gallons of e85. If my car says I have a half tank and I want to maintain my e30 blend (assuming that's what is already in the tank) I pump 5 gallons of 91 to 2 gallons of e85....so on and so forth

You might want to tag user "Fuel-IT!" in this thread (or call them at their shop?) - they are a partner or owned (I'm not sure which one) by Burger Motorsports, typically jump in on most JB4, JB+ threads, and I would consider them an expert on the JBxx piggyback unit. For testing and dyno purposes they seem to typically be running e50 in their cars so I would consider them well versed on the subject.

I was just concerned about any possible harm. If my calculations are correct I should be at E18. Car threw a CEL but I think it's associated with my DP
