anyone gets 50mpg on G20 330i? G20 330i fuel consumption
Today I did a 50-mile round trip with 10 miles of local roads in my 2021 330i, hwy speed around 65mph, and local speed 30-40mph. The trip mpg was 41.
Previous hwy trips of 80mph got around 42mpg. So has anyone hit 50+mpg with G20 330i going, say, 65mph? EDIT: feel free to share your excellent mpg story. Last edited by bavarianride; 09-26-2021 at 12:34 PM.. |

I haven't got close. I do live in a medium sized congested city. When there is no traffic and I hit every green light I can get 38-40mpg in eco pro mode.
50 just seems so unreal. but I'm sure if you drive long enough at the same speed with mostly highway miles, you might get that efficient of a MPG. |

yes, I have. the fuel efficiency of the 330i is insane.
if I go 66 mph on the highway in eco pro with no traffic, I can hit 50 mpg. It's really quite astonishing. And this is with xDrive too, I'm sure it's even easier with RWD cars |

50mpg@65mph is approaching Prius(regular/Prime) fuel efficiency, and much better than 330e 38 mpg(hwy) in hybrid mode. Other M340i owners report 35-ish mpg(hwy) with mild hybrid. I can't wait to see if LCI 330i gets mild hybrid, and if so, what kind of hwy mpg can that hit. |

One advantage of mild hybrid is to shut off engine early when car is decelerating, so engine on/off likely is not as frequent as PHEV 330e.
BMW says: "The main advantage of a mild hybrid is its fuel consumption, that is 0.1 gallons (per 62 miles) lower than that of a petrol car." So assuming 330i micro hybrid gets 50mpg hwy, then 330i + mild hybrid may get 55mpg then. BTW UK 330d posters report 60mpg(imperial), so that should be 50mpg(US), so currently 330i's 50mpg can match that too, that is quite an achievement by B46. https://www.bmwblog.com/2020/05/06/h...id-technology/ |

in real world driving, I'm getting 30 mpg combined. this includes driving in stop and go traffic and I eat lunch in my car. my last car I got 21 mpg so this vehicle is way more efficient. |

330Xi MPG
I get 30 mpg on a regular basis. I’ve gotten up to 42 mpg on the highway at a steady 70 mph. But that doesn’t happen often. High 30’s if I cruise between 75 and 80, which are normal speeds. Don’t know how anyone can go less than that on any major U.S. highway. You’d get blown off the road by Toyota Corollas and Hyundai Accents.

The gas savings is likely less than a gallon, for $4, at the expense of 30 extra minutes, which becomes a hourly rate of $8. Nonetheless when traffic permits I do like to hit 50mpg if possible. |

To be fair Prius is a full hybrid(with or without plug-in) that can run on electric only, while 330i/M340i cannot.
I do think that mild hybrid (even without pure electric) is important to buy time for the infrastructure rollout in the next few decades. |
