It's honestly embarrassing for the Audi to be basically neck and neck with a car supposedly a full class of performance below it.
Good job BMW. |

This reminds me of great movies ruined by a line of shitty follow ups
When there's little else to do, Matt picks two cars that share nothing similar and races them - content is king I guess. You might as well compare a horse with an emu Matt; pointless really

Some of these comparisons are pointless, but not this one. RS5 is the most comfortable and least "on the edge" of the M/RS/AMG line of cars. M440i is a class below but it is supposed to be somewhat fun and performance oriented as well. Both are 5 door AWD coupes. I can easily see people cross shopping the two and trying to make sense of spending extra 25-35k is worth the gain in performance and/or driving pleasure.
Obviously the whole driving aspect is left out. However some folks mostly care about the numbers. Personally I was curious to see the gap between the two. |

Audi has never been about drag racing, even their RS cars. The RS5 is still a good bit faster, and feels more special to drive (from my ownership experience with an M340i). It's not always about the numbers. Is it worth $20k more? That's a personal choice, and something that could be said for a lot of car comparisons. Is the M3 Comp worth that much more over the M340i? A lot of people here will say no to that as well.

I had a rs5 for a bit, it is very comfortable and pretty fast, but I was also bored out of my mind with it. It's hard to say what is special about it. a S5 or m440i just are too close and do the same things at a much better price point.

Not bad performance for non M car
Impressive, not even comparison power wise Good to see that non M cars give other top of the line performance models run for their money

I would guess if you did some laps around a windy track the RS gap would widen with the lighter weight and what I assume is more M3 style race suspension.
But..I would have also guessed it would be a lot faster straight line. |

I'm normally quite critical of Audi's anyway but I particularly dislike the V6 engine as per post 14 on this thread, I just don't understand how people like them so much!
I said it felt like an S to me, not an RS and I think the video shows that too, it just isn't an exciting engine! https://f92.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1882303

I have driven RS5, S5, G82 extensively and own M340i at the moment.
RS5 feels more planted and connected compared to m340i (should be similar to m440i). Also the steering on RS5 feels more direct compared to 340i especially on RS5 with fixed suspension. At the same time RS5 rides a lot firmer vs m340 or S5. M340i allows you to throw the back of the car at will while remaining in control, RS5 doesn't do that so not as fun for sliding around. Have to agree with Burrcold that RS5 feels a bit more special compared to those cars. However there is a price to pay day-to-day. G82 is a different beast. For me it beats the RS5 in every single aspect (performance, interior, fun, maintenance cost, etc.) and with Xdrive there is no longer quattro advantage for Audi. Since the pricing is so close between RS5 and M3/M3 I really don't see a point for buying the Audi. |

Basically the algo wants you to do same thing, all the time, all the time. The videos you see and always flagged here, and done this way in order to reach the 96% of the audience that is NOT subscribed to Carwow channel (insert any channel that is popular). These videos are a step further from usual reposts - that are done usually for new viewers but get mad all the old followers. When I see these I just ignore as who cares about these comparisons but there is always that maturing 14 into 15 year old soon to get a car 16 year old who sees this first time. Its all about eyeballs, maximum amount, and selling ads. Thats all it is. Im surprised we havent seen an NFT drag race for sale yet from Carwow. Soon though, very soon Im sure. |

If I'm not mistaken, in the i4 vs TM3 video the drag race was won by BMW with a <12 seconds performance. Now it's over 12 seconds and it's settled. Weird.

Same as the m340i touring vs rs4 video, nothing in it really and certainly not in real world driving.
Still worth a few minutes watch and not sure what people expect for you tube videos really, short, entertaining and if you don't want to watch it scroll past. |

But the RS5 exterior looks fantastic! And I'm not bashing the G82 looks, I just happen to think the RS5 is one of the best looking vehicles on the road right now. Obviously looks are subjective.

It's a huge advantage in my opinion (subjectively speaking of course). If the M3 had looked more like a widebody/more aggressive M340i, I would be driving one instead of the RS5. The front end ruined it for me. The RS5 does everything extremely well, and looks good. It may not be the best in any one particular performance metric, but it doesn't need to be. Every vehicle has it's positives and negatives, and ultimately comes together to make something that works for the buyer.
