Rust on new m340i

Hi guys

Today I was supposed to pick up a new m340i, unfortunately, during the inspection of the car, I noticed rust on multiple parts of the chassis.

1. How chassis of your car looked initially?
2. On the front part of the car I have only 60-70 microns of paint do you think it was polished before?
3. Would you accept a new car in such state?

Chassis

Paint thickness

Scratches

Dirt

That is a bit shabby for a so-called up-scale brand I must say.

Is this a brand new purchase or a preowned? Was the car sitting in water for awhile. If it doesn't feel right I would go with the gut feeling and pass on it. No matter how anxious you might be to get one. You don"t want any issues to pop up later. That could then cause a whole different set of headaches and annoyances. Just my 2 cents.

Ok. Just saw this was a new purchase. Pass on it and go to another dealer. Something is not right,

yes, it's a new car that I ordered in June last year. I didn't accept the car in such a state and right now I'm waiting for the dealer to contact me because yesterday nobody from the upper management was available.

After checking the survey results it seems nobody from the community would pick up this car

WTF. My 2 year old winter-driven car is not even close to being rusty. That's seriously sketch.

Something is up with that.

I used to live in Germany and I will honestly admit I would not rent an external company to check a brand new car. After I moved back to Poland as you can see in the pictures above it was a good idea.

Good catch. Correct decision. Most buyers would never have noticed it and been stuck with it.

The car was produced in Munich and delivered to Poland by train or car.

From what I have heard so far it was waiting for production and once it started at the end of December it was produced rather quickly without interruptions. I guess in reality car could be stored in some parking for a couple of months before production was completed.

Thanks, I will need to talk with the dealer and bank on Monday because it's a leased car.

Zero chance I'd move forward with that purchase. That's unacceptable for a new vehicle.

I wouldn't buy . Those scratches look like it's in the clear coat and can be buffed out though

To OP, the under bumper water spots of pic#9 should be OK.

The front bumper scratch by license frame of pic#7 appears to reach base coat, it may need spot fix/repaint bumper.

The white residuals on rocker panel of front passenger of pic #8 probably can be buffed out.

The rusty spots shown in pic #1, 2, and 3 are unacceptable, those components need to be swapped out by dealer.

The solder marks on pic #4 and 5 look OK.

The paint thickness of 60-70 on front fenders from Munich may need further investigation.

I haven't measured my G20 paint, but others posted that G20 SLO build has 110-ish paint thickness all around.

Thank you for all the details. I will be talking tomorrow with the Dealer and discussing all of it. Here is one extra picture of scratches on a different element.

These scratches show that the selling dealer does not take good care of the car after it arrives at dealer.

If the dealer is willing to work with you in addressing all these concerns, I see no reason to refuse the car - unless you're willing to order another one and wait it out. Still sucks that you have to deal with this. Good luck!

Pass on it Bud. The only way you should take delivery of the car is if it is in pristine condition. This car is far from it. Keep us posted and good luck.

If the dealer will be willing to address these issues I will be happy to pick it up. I waited 7 months for this car and I really want the current m340i and not the LCI version.
