Only 3 Months of SiriusXM after RAM retrofit

GREAT news is I picked up my car today...Went to activate SiriusXM and after 32 minutes with them on phone found out they "could only give me a free 3 month subscription" and I would have to have dealer call to sort it. I contacted CA and this was his reply:

I went to look into the radio issue and was just informed that the cars that had the audio module replacement only get 3 months and we have yet to receive an explanation. We are honoring BMWs 1 year and the way we can do it is for you to pay for the other 9 months and send me the receipt and we will reimburse you for it. Sorry for the inconvenience this is the first I have heard this.

This happen to anyone else out of RAM purgatory?

Mine doesn't have XM at all... but with built in spotify I really don't care. Don't miss it at all.

Protip: if you haggle with XM they'll give you service for like 5 bucks a month. Still have XM in my RS3 and had it the while time I owned my Supra and Colorado Z71.

I have been a Sirius subscriber for many years...numerous channels I enjoy. And yes, been doing the haggle trick with threat of cancelling often. Figured I didn't have to do it for 1 year with this new car.

Another Tip: you can move unused subscription from one vehicle to another. I had a few months left on car I just traded...moved it to my Jeep Liberty.

Picked up my car on Monday and the radio has one year trial on Sirius and I'm an existing customer (and JUST paid for a new quarter due to delays with delivery), so they'll pause for a year and then most of the first quarter

Nice....I looked back thru your posts. One said you weren't listed on the RAM retrofit recall site, then a later one said "I called Genius the other day and she told me an order was opened and cleared a week ago" ... So, do you know for sure it was a RAM retrofit? If so, weird you got the full year on Monday and two days later I was told only 3 months. Maybe it had to do with what part was put in there?

Yes, I have no clue what the order was for though I had been keeping an eye on the recall site and checked several times; always nil so maybe something happened during the shipping.

No idea why I got the full year, though the build details have listed that duration since it showed up on the tracker.

My 1 year sxm just expired. I renewed subscription on the sxm app. Does anyone know how I can get that connected or sync up to the car?

Did you renew just streaming via the app and the web? You would need a plan that includes streaming in car. If so you can refresh the signal to the car. Personally I’m not a fan of the audio quality through the head unit. I like to stream via the app through Bluetooth. Sounds a lot better to my ears. I’m on the free one year right now but I was a sub prior to buying the new car. Talk about a customer service nightmare getting them to kill my sub and just having the one year freebie on my account. As soon as they hear you say the word “cancel” they stop listening to you and start pitching you on some kind of deal. It was maddening. They did put me on a 5 bucks a month plan after the one year expires, so I’m good to go for awhile.

@AWcoupe Same for me. I was canceling my XM on my SRT 392. As soon as I said Cancel, they immediately started patching me deals.

Just keep going down the rabbit hole.

It's been a while, and I can't remember the exact numbers, but this is the range it went from. If regular price was $150 for a year, they emediately went down to $120, I said no thank you, then they went to $105, I said no, then they went to $90, I said NO, please cancel, I don't even listen to it, I have apple music. Then they went down to $75, still said no, and told her I would only say yes if it was FREE, then she went down to $50, I'm like WTF is going on, and they finally canceled it.

Yeah it really is incredible what they will stoop to just to hang onto a sub. The 5 bucks a month(60 per year) was what I had and will get again when the trial ends. It isn’t the full blown package obviously but I think it’s a good value. As far as customer service goes, I was supposed to get a partial refund charged back to my credit card for like 4 bucks. Never happened. No biggie.
Then I had a password issue because the rep created a new account for me for the new car even though I had service activated by the dealer. When I tried to do a reset on my end I kept getting “invalid email address” cuz the billing website was using that already. Apparently the streaming app and website and billing website were in conflict because of the change made by the rep so I wasn’t able to log into streaming.
When trying to fix that issue with the rep I was told that my main email address was showing as an invalid domain on her end, even though I got a “Welcome to SiriusXM” email from them the day before…..to that email address. You can’t make this stuff up. Had to switch the streaming to my gmail. Total shitshow. So now I log into billing and streaming with 2 different email addresses!
If anyone ever needs to contact Sirius use the support chat function on the website. SO much faster than waiting on the phone.

Over 34 Million, including me do. Yes, not the BEST High Res audio, but not sure what you listened to it on, it sounds plenty fine when cranked up in my car. Love the variety of channels, especially E-Street radio which carries live concerts and rare tracks you will not find on ANY other service. And only $6/month...a bargain in my eyes.
