m440 B58TU oil consumption?

I was wondering if new version of B58TU consumes any oil and if so how much?

I do understand that it is normal for turbocharged engines to consume some oil depending on how you drive it.

All M340 and 440 have the b58tu and consume oil.

If you have a heavy foot it's burns it faster. Keep an extra quart in the trunk.

I had to add extra 2 times. Seems to burn faster in the summer/hotter months.

Car also recommend 0w20 or 0w30. Would recommend the w30 for summer or if you're located somewhere hot year round.

If you try like a grandma it doesn't burn oil.

So how bad is it per 5k with heavy foot? Quart or more?

Just add one quart of oil. The message pops up when it's one quart low. You don't need to drain and fill again.

I wonder if the oil burning is from engines not being broken in when they were new? I have zero oil burning issues on mine.

At 31k miles never topped up a quart of oil even taking it up to 7-8k mile oil change intervals. Been tuned since 2k miles, aggressive burbles, track days, canyon runs, you name it, been done. Proper break in procedure and 0W-30 is the key.

I bought my car as courtesy vehicle at 4.060 miles, so not sure if it was properly maintained by the dealership.

I broke my car in properly until 1200 miles.

And I think it does burn more oil while breaking in haven't had to add a quart after 12k miles.

If yours didn't burn oil, you're not driving it as hard trust me.

This is the right weight of oil but I would highly recommend Liqui-Moly.

I agree. I have the measly B46 but I drive it hard. I've had the low oil warning pop up twice.

If you drive your cars without pushing it, you won't see the low oil warning message.

This is the oil level in my M340i. I haven't got the warning message yet. Should i wait for the warning message to pop up or should I just top it off?

It has been 6000 miles since last oil change. 4000 miles to go for the next oil change.

This is legit the first BMW I have ever not had to top off every 5000 miles (honestly lets just flat out call it the first German car of that nature).

Its the Bavarian tax.
