is M340i gearbox the same durability as M3/M4?
how much abuse can the gearbox take? i mean if it's the same toughness as the M3 then that's awesome ... but is it?
watching 0-200 pulls i can see the gear ratios are slightly taller on the m340i so they are not identical ... but here's hoping! |

No, they are not the same transmission. The ZF8HP50 in our cars starts to slip right around 600 WTQ. The G80 M3 has a ZF8HP70 which holds more torque.

The trans in the UK m340i is the HP51 but its the same specs as the 50 i believe. The 50 and 70 in the two part numbers indicate the rated torque, 500nm and 700nm respectively, so the m340i is already at the rated torque of the transmission.
