Why would they keep the traditional gear shifter in the i4 and ditch it in the 3 series LCI ICE models.Big mistake.

I like it. Haven't been a huge fan of the new lower air inlet designs, but it seems to work pretty well here relative to the X3/X4.

I did not realize they were getting rid of the shifter as well. Not sure how I feel about that. Seems like something is missing. iDrive 8 seems to be a really good system. I just wish the screens were more aesthetically integrated into the dashboard.

It's one thing to have no buttons and be all touch, but why have that hideous tachometer? Just give us dials!

Front actually looks pretty good, not sure about the rear diffuser and how high the black part of the side goes up though.

Reminds me of the F90 LCI front

And would you look at that hood line… glorious

Edit - I guess the hood line is not new, I’ve been looking at G8x too long lol

literally what is this obsession with getting rid of gear shifts... I dont get it. never heard anyone complain about having one. in a ZF/DCT car I like being able to use the shifter instead of the paddles in manual mode sometimes.

is it just me of the front reminds me of an Oni Mask? overall it's not awful, the diffuser is a bit weird though. meh.

Actually love the exterior update. Fresh and actually a bit simplified. Nice change from other recent design changes.

INSIDE.... ugh. Screen looks awful just tacked on to the dash like that. Can this trend die already?!?!

RIP angel eyes, shift lever, and buttons for basic interior controls.

The front end now reminds me of a Skoda product. Definitely prefer the pre-LCI.

Forreal. I love having a physical shifter to tug at. Many brands cover them in leather or BMW itself with that crystal glass material in the X5/7. But that is being ditched too as evidenced by the X7 LCI.

I think it's a cost thing as well as obsession to eliminate any and all mechanical feedback in the operation of a vehicle. Mechanical = old fashioned. Digital controls = modern.

iDrive 8 is basically all screen controls as well, wereas iDrive 7 struck a perfect balance between physical and digital controls.

Why do they keep designing these rear diffusers which go so high into the rear bumper? They did the same thing on the X4 and 4er and now the 3er too. As for the front, I actually really liked the notched headlights, a nice reference to the E46. I also think the lower opening is far too big and disproportionate to the rest of the design.

Lmao I thought that was the base trim. Pretty sure it's M sport💀💀. As per usual a let down from the bmw design team.
