Brand New Clunk
Grabbed my '22 M440i in January this year. Drive it mostly on weekends.
A very disturbing clunk was noticed around 3,200 miles and it is most noticeable over uneven pavement….speed bumps and during turns at low speeds. Dealer took a while to confirm, but has now ordered tie rods as well as control arms. Comes across as a guess to me….but choices are limited at this point. I don't want to slam the service team prematurely, but parts are "coming from Germany" is the phrase of the day. So, I have parked the car to avoid creating additional damage. I expect this to be the longest 3 weeks of the year. I could not get a loaner because they only have 3 for the entire facility. Sad Sad Sad…. Love the car and will give them a chance to fix it. If I'm not satisfied on the drive back home, I'll be back in the market….most likely shopping with a different brand. That manual Supra is starting to become more and more appealing. |

Please post an update after this repair. I have the same issue on my 2020 m340i and dealer has been unable to diagnose and fix. Had the repair in this TSB done, but did not fix it. SIB 31-01-20

Sure thing.
Just dropped it off early this morning. I asked the service tech to take a look at the steering adjustment that was reported in earlier threads. Hope to have it back this afternoon. |

Let me guess, adaptive suspension?
There is another thread about a similar experience that some of us are also seeing and it doesn't appear that anyone has found the culprit. Different model but same platform. M340i knock in front suspension / steering rack on expansion joints 45mph or under https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1731942 |

No adaptive suspension here.
I got a call saying they are no longer able to hear or feel anymore clunking issues and the car is ready to go. I'll pick it up later today and see if this is the case. Hoping for the best! |

It this the Same as FXX Issue?
IS this the same as prior model years???
I have resolved my clunk issues by: 1. LCA Replacement 2. Upper Control Arm Replacement 3. Sway Bar End-Link Replacement 4. And this little piston R&R: Last edited by 123Britt; 07-08-2022 at 11:36 AM.. |

My 21 M340, xDrive and adaptive suspension is going in for what I believe is the same issue. It only comes up after I've been driving for a bit or if the weather is warmer/hotter. |

No change for me. Not sure what they did during the final test drive, but this was a fail.
New lower control arms on each side, adjustment to the steering gear as others have had, but I still have the clunk. They also replaced a jointed rod. They told me both control arms were leaking fluid. Alignment done after the parts were replaced. Steering is improved and the car feels very solid….but I felt the clink before I even left the parking lot. Back to square one. Love this car, but if I could find a replacement tomorrow, it would be gone. |

Well that's sad to hear and not very promising since I just dropped my vehicle off this morning..
Difference is I recently installed Michelin A/S tires so I hope they don't blame it on that. I see there's several ongoing threads concerning this clunking sound coming from the front with no solutions unfortunately. |

Of course the hassle may not be worth it to you, if not, you are right to just trade it in. Just know that if your car cannot be fixed suitably, lemon law is an option. |

According to them, it's fixed.
I traded it for $4k over what I paid. Life is good for now. I still have my 540i and added a 2022 Supra to replace the M440i. I will miss it but I never look back. |

I know you have traded your car, but this is just info for others who may be in a similar situation. If you have recurring problems, know your lemon law, and what it takes to invoke it. You may not need it, but if you do, it is a godsend. |

Dealer also stated they were unable to reproduce noise. Hate seeing them experiment on my car too. |
