Now we know what you’re thinking - the S4 costs loads more than the other cars here, and the DS9 is more of a competitor to the likes of the 5 Series and E-Class. That may be true, but the S4 is still largely similar in style & practicality to the other cars here, and as for the DS, once you add extras to these other cars, the price may be quite similar to the DS. So with that in mind, is it worth paying a bit extra and moving up a class?

Well, it’s time to find out! Mat’s going to put all these cars through a standard carwow review, covering their designs, interior, practicality, what they’re like to drive, and what engines are available. Oh, and of course, he’s going to launch them from 0-60mph!

3 series is the best all around and more engaging than the A4 (S4 in the video), and is Mat Watsons choice. But if you want a mild hybrid then he recommends the benz. He drops the genesis and ds9.

This is want happens when you can't source the same class of car from each brand.

He had an S4 (6 cylinder) with a Merc 300e (hybrid) and an BMW 320i.

Completely different class of cars.

Also, the pricing he put up at the start of the video for the S4 was I expect for the lower spec A4.

Matt should of waited till he had a M340i and one of the new 4 cylinder Merc C43 and then added the performance version of the G70.

Hopefully he can repeat the test again with the same spec cars.

Apparently the G70 doesn't get the 3.3T model in the UK.
The Merc is... a merc.
The BMW has a spec so low that the US doesn't even get that version of the 2.0 motor.
And the Audi is a step up compared to all of the rest.


Yet... somehow... Matt likes the BMW the best... what?

Keep in mind that the S4 is a diesel in Europe, and an old one at that. Even if they had added a higher grade BMW, it would be the M340d not i and Merc doesn't even have a model that competes in that space (the BMW would still win the comparison anyways in my opinion)
