Got a notification from my bmw app last week saying a new software update was available. I never clicked anything, but it ended up downloading itself and saying to continue following the instructions in the car, but nothing pops up in my car. I go to remote software upgrade in the settings and it just says update will start automatically, but nothing ever happens. Anyone else having this issue?

The RSU can be blocked by several conditions.
One of the main reasons is the battery charging level that´s under a certain threshold.
Other reasons can be a server sided block for your car due to problems with other cars of the same mode/configuration before.
Someone in another forum mentioned a problem that´s currently blocking the RSU for 50.000 cars.

The car is 2023 so I’d hope it isn’t low battery levels, however I did see that as a possible cause when I looked it up. I do believe it’s the server sided thing you are talking about though. I just read another forum where people were talking about having a lot of software issues with the new RSU, so it doesn’t seem too far off for BMW to stop the updates from going to other cars.

My update downloaded to the app ok but I had to drive for 20 miles to get it to transfer to the car. It then took an 80 mile drive before the car said it was ready to update. The update went ok but I lost a couple of settings; tachometer in the instrument display, seat heating and window rules, and usb music. All sorted ok but can’t immediately notice any changes unlike previous update which fixed minor flat spot when accelerating from rest.

I just updated mine today. It failed to update the first two times and then did it on the 3rd attempt. No idea why.

Updated fine for me. But 2 days after, Connected Drive stopped working for about 3 days and then resumed working again!

Have to look deep into the settings of the climate control system and turn it back on. Mine did the same after the update I was like wtf! But it’s back now. The only thing that did irk me was the fact I lost the weather app. It never loads anymore ugh

After the upgrade yesterday from 07/2022 to 11/2022, I've checked everything over and this is the first upgrade where I didn't lose any settings (apart from coding which was expected).

Early days, but it may have improved the CarPlay integration. I have a Shortcuts task on the iPhone that when CarPlay connects it starts Radioplayer. This appears to execute faster and plays the last station more reliably than before. Previous, on most connections the app would start but I'd have to press the play button to start the stream.

I was hoping for some CarPlay improvements as well, but my update finally installed last night and there is still a slight delay when skipping or repeating songs. Haven’t noticed anything not working however.

Yeah waited for two weeks after transferring to the car. But no message on the display for install the update.

I now see a message to install update when I turn off the car but I am fearful of the update screwing something up as so far everything is working quite well.

In the iDrive 7 you have to active the remote start, it’s thru settings, climate control, preconditioning/ventilation, then click Remote Engine Start. Every other software patch I need to reapply this. Good luck!

Got a notification to install 11/2023. Been waiting for the actual install prompt but it’s not coming. Fault memory says insufficient charge, so I had the car hooked up to a charger (CTEK MXS 5) and juiced it to full. Still no prompt.

Using BimmerLink, I can see the car has 91% charge, and the car is giving 12.7V with engine off. Thinking it’s below threshold so the car won’t install the upgrade. You guys think if I hook it up to a battery supply it’ll actually go? Really don’t want to do a trip to the dealership.

I'm having the same issue on my 2020 M340i. The state of charge is 92% and even with a power supply attached to the battery i'm still not getting prompted to start the install.

I haven't had any luck, G42 ID7, same update 11/23, took forever before it would prompt for install. I installed it twice, but didn't actually install, still on old firmware both times.

Might be a bit of a stretch, but any way you can hook the power supply up to the car and close the hood to see if it'll go? Requirements for the RSU is windows and hood closed, car parked with brake engaged, and is flat.

No luck. I did notice a few DME codes that cannot be cleared with Bimmerlink.
