What is going on with my M sport seats?

2021 7k miles.

I have seen some other posts about this.
My passenger side is flawless.
Garaged 90% of the time, never left outside in the sun without window shades.

It’s somewhat of a trek to the dealer for me, I will see what they have to say. For 7k miles this doesn’t look like normal wear and tear.

Looks like it was flooded and dried?

Yeah, that’s not normal. You’re not sweating in Houston until your clothes are soaked through are you?

It sure do be hot here this week. But I wouldn’t call myself a soggy person. I’m honestly shocked, looks like as if it melted.

I just ordered a 2024 M440i GC XDrive in Portimao Blue. I live in Memphis which is similar to Houston.

Was on the horns about ordering the Cognac perforated Sensatec or the black leather with blue contrast stitching.

I went with the Cognac...for both the perforated and fear the hot Memphis climate would not be a friend to the black leather...although I like the blue stitching and it would have went well with the Portimao exterior paint.

I’m from Texas and I LOVE Texas, but you could not pay me enough money to live in Houston. Of course, growing up in arid Lubbock made my tolerance for humidity extra low. I lived in Fort Worth and absolutely love it!!! But, even it exceeds my humidity tolerance sometimes. I can actually tell the difference in humidity between Fort Worth and Dallas. If you pay close attention Dallas is actually a little greener than Fort Worth.

Now back to your regularly scheduled thread.

This is looking to be a common flaw on the vernasca leather. If you look at diagrams of the seats, the lines are exactly where the seat warming coil elements are.

I bought mine used with this. I haven’t taken into the dealership yet but would be worth trying.

I’m not sure common is the right word. Seeing yours and the other makes exactly two I’ve seen on this forum.

Iv seen at least five others post about this within a month period and spoken to the dealership where they have also mentioned this to me from other cars with vernasca leather.

I plan on taking mine into the dealership in a few weeks to see what they say.

Would you say its getting worse over time?

I live in Western Australia and our summers get really hot (though not humid, thankfully). I went the whole hog and have Oyster leather and think it looks great with Portimao blue. I always try to avoid black or dark coloured interiors, though was very tempted by the red leather ...

This will be my first BMW with black and I kinda regret it heat wise, especially living in Texas. I plan on getting some better ceramic tint.

My vernasca leather is doing that as well, very slightly. I bought the car used with it. It is very slightly on my seats so it didn't bother me. Luckily I live in Miami and will never need to use the heated seats.

I can post pics if you are interested.

That would be cool

I have been collecting pictures to make a case to BMW. I know some people have had this issue on thier rear seat bottoms as well and they are never sat in. I think it’s definitely a defect of the leather.

Its on the rear seat in my car too. No heated rear seats, so who really knows what it is from.

Ill take some pics after work and post them.

That’s insane. I don’t have this issue currently on my vernasca seats but I’ll definitely keep an eye out for it. I usually condition my seats once a month, so maybe that’s helping? Not sure.

I got paraniod and conditioned my seats. Realized Vernasca used a synthetic coating so now I get to scrub my seats and get the conditioner out. Seats are no longer soft to the touch so I feel like I’m out here destroying my seats at this point. Ugh I miss the old bmw leather

Wow, that’s crazy but I’d hope your dealer should fix that under warranty without any problems.

FWIW, my black Vernasca on my ‘21 doesnt have that at all, still looks showroom new, and I use my seat heaters all the time

I don’t think it has anything to do with conditioner. I clean and condition my seats regularly. Still has it.

But, anything from Colourlock is good for taking care of leather. I also have some Ammo products. Good as well.
