wind noise left window above 150 mph

Hello I took my car to Mexico and I've noticed a lot of wind noise coming from the driver's door/window seal area it sounds like buffeting

like the same thing as when you only open one window on the highway

it only comes on at speeds above 150 mph is this expected or is there a door leak somewhere?

thanks

I have wind noise from the driver's door area too at much lower speeds (maybe the mirror). Any leaks when you wash your car?

It's by design to let you know you're coming close to the speed limiter

Interesting. Does your door line up? Does it need to be adjusted (sucked in more to the frame via a striker adjustment)? Just a thought.

Wait GrannyShiftG80 you're serious. :|
Sorry, no I didn't have such issues in Germany - nothing besides more noise at higher speed

Where were the kilos of cocaine strapped to your car?

You probably need a carbon fairing for them.

Carbon fiber or regular mirrors? I know this is a common complaint on certain aftermarket carbon fiber mirrors which have small gaps that make noise at speed.

Aftermarket carbon mirrors tend to have wind noise even at 30-40mph. OP says it happens at 150+

I'm pretty sure that's just inherent. A lot of cars have wind noise at high speeds.

Just take it into your dealer and tell them the issue. I’m sure a Tech won’t mind trying to duplicate the issue😂

I didn’t have buffeting noise he’s described at those high speeds in my M3. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Sounds like something is a miss but if only experiencing it at those high speeds it’s gonna be tough to do normal troubleshooting. 😂

The car is under warranty. Take it to a dealer and ask them to test it at 150 mph.

Same here. Thought I was the only one. High pitch squeal/hiss from the driver side mirror. I get it at 30-40+MPH. Winds up/gets worse with speed, and subsides when slowing. I usually ride windows up for aerodynamics and A/C, but definitely a noise from the cut in the sideview mirror post.

Edit: No CF overlays. Full stock side views.

I’ve also had this issue, it seems to come and go in my experience but it sounds like it’s coming from the seal on the drivers door. I doubt the dealer will be much help unless we can point out the issue that might be causing it since it doesn’t seem that noticeable (at least for me) until you start reaching higher speeds.

I’ve had weird wind noises too that started above 40mph. I thought it was the mirrors at first. Then thought it was something in the firewall rattling. Turns out I had a loose fastner for the undertray. Which allowed the undertray to sag down and catch wind at certain speeds. I would check that first.

Under the entire front half of the car on the bottom. There is a plastic under tray with tons of fasteners. Lift the car up and makes sure all of them are screwed down tight.

You’re driving 150+ and don’t know what an undertray is?

Better to ask to test at 200mph, just to be sure the window doesn't fall off.
