Subs out of balance
Hello all,
24 M340 here, with harman/kardon. found a used Matchup10, with harness, bought and installed pair of new Match W8BMW-S subs, installed put on custom tunes (thanks jjkiii and skyscraper) I noticed that the driver side bass hits harder than right side. i double and triple checked the install. I took it to a audio shop, guy ran DSP tool, checked some stuff, said tunes are good, but agreed speakers dont sound balanced. suggested i swap positions Did that just now, (driver <=> passenger), still noticeably unbalanced(driver side heavy). since I had the seats out already, i put on the original H/K subs, still visually and audibly unbalanced. Seems like they get uneven amount of power from amp? I asked the seller of the amp, he said he didn't have this issue (6 months used, on a g20 with h/k). Could the problem be from h/k amp? any advice, suggestions? possible h/k amp is faulty? would that interfere? other thing i can try is taking out the up10 amp, and trying again stock h/k. i only had the car few days before i put on the amp, so don't remember how stock sounded. The Match UP 10DSP has an input analyzer feature that can be used to determine any disimilar input levels on each of the HK 9ch outputs. Your installer should know how to run and interpret this feature.

So problem was from the amp. replaced with a new up10 amp, and imbalance problem solved.
But, the subs under the seats seem to vibrate against the grill thats covering them. will a proper tune fix this? |
