Full Respray in 2024

Hello everyone,

For those who don't know, I converted 435i Sportline Model into an M Sport using all Genuine BMW parts last year. Since then, I still have outstanding body work that needs to be done to take care of existing scratches and chips. My thoughts, instead of piecing this together and blending new paint into old paint, I would just respray the entire car and then protect it from there. Does anyone have any insight on what the cost might be? I'm keeping the original Midnight Blue Metallic paint. My engine bay is not painted so the drivetrain will not be coming out. I'm looking for an OEM alike finish.

It would be nice to have one shade of blue on my car. Attached are some pictures of the conversion and what the car currently looks like.

For $25K the body shop better be color sanding and buffing the vehicle and leave zero sign of orange peel in the finish. I'd expect a show car finish for $25K.

I applaud your enthusiasm but question your financial judgment. Start with an M first and save yourself money.

That being said,…I have modded vehicles well past their resale value as well. Been there and done that. I will probably do it again as well.

No offense, I won't buy an M as a next car. I wasn't jazzed by the M4 I drove. It'll be a C7 Z06 or C6 ZR1. Too expensive right now so the Bimmer stays. I also don't think car forums are a good place to talk about financial judgement since all ours are impaired. Besides, I can build a faster N55 for the price of an M

Ok, but even if the respray was $10k it wouldn’t make from a financial standpoint. It’s such a bad idea that you shouldn’t be surprised when people can’t hold back from saying so.

The paint you have on now looks pretty nice, a whole respray, if done properly will cost more than it makes sense to spend on it.
Do you know of a collision shop you trust? A good shop will know how to blend and it will cost a lot less.

I abandoned the idea. The two shops I trust talked me out of it. At this point I'm looking at ZL1s lol.

What about spray on coatings? Cheaper than paint (IIRC) and this guy was pretty happy with his San Marino Blue F87: https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1530010

At this point I'll either fix the areas that need it and move on or I'll just sell the car and get something else.
