Carbon fiber trim missing from new car order
Hi,
I placed a order for a 2024 M340i then cancelled this as the 2025 was released, picked the same spec and they placed the order but they never gave me the new car order paper work, I had the 2024 paper work and the spec was correct, the 2025 is built and waiting to be shipped to Germany before coming to the uk, but they have only today sent the new car order paperwork through with the spec and all looks good apart from it does not show the interior trim in carbon fiber £550 option, it does not state any interior trim what so ever ? Has anyone else placed a order for a 2025 model 3 series ? Does it show the interior trim ? I assume they have messed up with this and it’s going g to turn up with the basic interior trim ? So if that’s the case what do I do about this ? 🫣 |

I have emailed the dealer to say that the paper work does not show the trim, so it will be interesting to see what they say, i stupidly signed the paper work today as it all looked correct, and then i just suddenly thought about the carbon trim, but they have got me to sign the paper work a week or so after the car has already been built :-( i wonder if they can change the trim after the car turns up ? I guess it should not be a big deal for them >

Just spoken to the bmw genius chat and they have said the car does not have the carbon fiber interior trim, it has the standard interior trim that the car would normally have so the dealer has definitely messed up, will speak with them tomorrow about it, but I certainly do not want it with that trim as I do not like it, and their would be no refund for the carbon fiber trim anyway as I clearly have not paid for it as it’s not on the new car order form.
So I guess they will have to see if it can be fitted when the car gets to Germany or they order the trim and fit it at the dealer ship or if their is a m performance carbon interior trim they best order that and get that fitted. It pisses me off as I kept chasing the new car order form and never got it, I even said to the sales manager I would expect a phone call a few days before production starts to check the spec of the car, and the car was already built and no phone calls and no information about anything, it has been my worst experience buying a new car ever and it’s my 4th new bmw🫣 let’s hope they come up with a solution for this, I guess some people may say it’s only a interior trim but it is not what I asked for. |

You should have a read through this thread, they had a few issues with the build but incorrect trim was one of them.

I got them to swap the trim in a F series car once. It just clips out with the right tool and knowledge. I'm sure the G series will be the same. Tell them you'll reject it unless they swap it. Should be do-able.

You can retro fit the trim after production at the dealership.
Just if the dealer is willing to do this - they should do really if you’ve paid for it. |

M Perf trim is the dry (open pore) carbon that looks nothing like the factory carbon trim.
I'd be telling them to order up the correct trims and get them fitted FOC. Interesting to see you cancelled your first order and opted to go with the new LCI refresh. That must have cost you several £k by the time you added back on all of the previously standard options that they deleted for the refresh! |

To be honest the spec on the bmw site was £72k I got it for £60k that is the complete spec only missing the tow bar and sunroof every other option is on it (well apart from the £550 carbon trim they have missed out on the order so I think it’s a good price tbh but I did get messed around with the original order so I think they have done a little bit more for me, plus it’s my 4th car with this dealer so they are showing me some loyalty I think, but it was a battle and now it looks like I have another with the trim, but fingers crossed they will just get the trim placed on order and fit it when they can, I can live with that.

So good news, the dealer have admitted their mistake and have basically offered to install the M Performance carbon fiber interior at no extra charge so very happy with that, I appreciate it’s not a gloss carbon fiber look but happy with the outcome in the end so we’ll done to the dealer 👍👍

Hopefully you'll get a technician that isn't heavy handed and takes chunks out of the interior getting it out If you look on the for sale section here a guy was selling the m perfomrance matt carbon interior and had a photo of it installed in his car. Might be worth looking at so you get an idea what it will look like. |

I have looked at loads of pictures of the m performance carbon interior, it’s nothing like the factory carbon interior admittedly but I do like it plus you get the alcantara which is nice.
And agreed hopefully who ever swaps it over hopefully takes pride in their work🕺🏼 I will make sure I inspect it carefully before I sign for the car lol |

Thank you, I hope it will look amazing, it’s having the M performance exterior carbon kit fitted and the m performance black 795m 20” alloys, and being in Brooklyn grey I hope this should look really good, i currently have a g20 330d with the same kit and wheels in portimao blue and it does look very nice, deffo going to miss that 330d such a great engine but the M340i should be a large step up 😁

I lust after those 795m wheels. I'd be interested to know what the ride is like and general durability on our potholed roads. I know I shouldn't...but...much want.

To be honest I have had the 330d 5 years from new this September and the wheels were on it from new, although yes if you hit a pothole you really do know about it, but the normal ride quality is very nice, I do have the adaptive suspension though so I assume that helps.

I’ll be going for a G21 330e in artic race blue with the carbon trim, pano roof, adaptive cruise and suspension, 995 wheels in the msport spec.
Currently have a g20 330e and can’t fault it. |
