Service intervals for spark plugs
Hi all
So my 2020 m340i has covered 52k and is still on the original spark plugs. It's had 3 engine oil services and was wondering when are the spark plugs due for change? The last engine oil service was this year in march at 47k. Location UK |

On my previous BMW 328i the spark plug change interval was recommended at 60k miles. I’m not sure about the M340i, but I assume it’s similar.
I do remember having to buy a slim spark plug socket, since there was very little clearance around the plugs and my generic socket wouldn’t quite fit. |

Do not wait for the recommended service interval. I would recommend changing plugs based on your driving style and how hard you push the vehicle. If you truly drive it lightly and as if it was a standard economy vehicle, then changing every 40k miles is suitable. However, if you’re an enthusiasts who drives the car aggressively every so often or goes to a road course, it’s safer and mitigates risk to change more frequently, ie 20-30k miles.
