In-built Spotify stopped working

As the title implies. Anyone?

Spotify is stuck loading. No software updates to iDrive. I have reset iDrive but no dice.

I switched to Guest driver profile and iDrive prompted me to sign in to Spotity. Afrer doing so, the system reported "Spotify currently unavailable."

Figured if this is a BMW system-wide issue, others might be seeing the same.

For now I've switched to Spotify on CarPlay but that's least preferred.

Called GENIUS this morning and I was told it's a system-wide issue.

Hopefully after this issue, it’s updated to be less buggy. Sometimes it just refuses to play music or sometimes the app will just refuse to load.

Works for me 99% of the time. Yes sometimes it won't automatically start to play music after starting the car but it's less often. All I do is just go into the tap and tap my playlist. Otherwise if I don't do anything it starts to play after several minutes or when next I start the car again.

Current issue is a backend problem that is being worked on by their IT.

Yeah it definitely works well just not consistently. But my use case may be unique. I use Spotify pretty frequently daily and on multiple devices. Sometimes it transitions seamlessly between all the devices and other times it doesn’t.

For example, if I’m listening to music at home, I use Spotify on my iPad. When I get into my car, sometimes the Spotify app would start playing the music I was just listening to on my iPad, other times it may just revert to what I was last listening to in the car. I can’t figure out the logic with the built in app in the car.

I’ve also noticed another bug where I get into the car, it starts playing music, then for whatever reason it would skip back like 30 secs into the song. This only happens in the car, probably something to do with the data loading and Idrive loading.

This only happens to me if I get in the car and open Spotify app on my phone. Otherwise the native app consistently picks up from the last music I was playing in the car. If your phone or another device is not at play in your case then yes definitely seems like a bug.

Outside of my car, I stream from Spotify from my phone and a smart TV.

I'm a bit relieved to read this as it sounds like something that will be resolved soon. When the app stopped showing up at all for me I was worried they were getting ready to ding me with some new charge.

Thanks for posting this. It was working yesterday and this morning it’s stuck at the “loading” screen. Wish they’d figure this out, I feel like it’s happened a couple times now 😅

I’d use CarPlay Spotify but tbh the connection just isn’t reliable like the in car one.

Another new issue as well: if I send a destination from my phone and try to access Received destinations on iDrive, I'm greeted with an error that prompts me to remove my user profile and login again - which I don't really wanna do at the risk of loosing my user settings. Urrghh

Precisely why I didn't log out of mine when prompted to do so. Didn't want to risk anything. Will just wait until all this is sorted out.

Please tell me all of this isn't dependent on a physical data center in Spartanburg or something? The cloud, and adequate disaster recovery that comes with it, has been a thing for a very long time now.
