Yes! Bimmercode works partially with 2025 G20 LCI 2 (with iDrive 8.5)

Hey, just want to share that I just managed to modify the following settings on my newly acquired 2025 G20 LCI 2 (the newest facelift introduced in 2024 which comes with iDrive 8.5)!

What don't work
- Modules that requires Secure Coding 2.0 -- notably the “Headunit” HU_MGU or “Headunit” HU_NBT_EVO control unit
- Auto Start Stop function memory {I have the start-stop button}

What works (Bimmercode Options that I tested to work)
+ Exterior lighting switch-off allowed {you can switch off the low beam but DRL remains on}
+ Ambient lighting color bottom (i-level 22-07 and later)
+ Ambient lighting color contour

Hope this information will help those with the newer LCI2 models!

Also, wondering if anyone could share more information about switching off the DRL when ignition is on. This feature is actually requested by the staff at my local drive-through manual car wash. Currently, I have resorted to switching off the engine to disable the headlights.

Looks like we will stick with AAS button for now. Thanks that they at least brought it back, this was the main reason I cancelled my 2024 order and waited for 2025. I hate this so much, only inconvenience is to turn it off each time I start the car. Did you try coding Active Sound?

I don't have the Active Sound package, so didn't try it out.

Yes, fortunately, we still have the AAS button. It'd be perfect if the memory setting works.

I just got around to using bimmercode for my 23 m340i ( I rarely drive the car ). I only wanted it to change it to start up in sport mode and change the interior color to red.

Question: I used the Bluetooth feature to connect. Is it normal for bimmercode to take 2 1/2 minutes to read the ecu and an additional 2-3 minutes to do the actual coding? Of course when looking at the youtube videos it takes seconds to code. Thanks

Do you guys know when headunit coding will be available? I just coded seatbelt continuous warning and trunk close with remore. Need to remove annoying disclaimer message on starting.

Most newer BMW models have Active Sound Design (ASD), a feature that amplifies the engine sound and plays it through the car's speakers:
  • M performance models: The BMW M240i, BMW M235i, and other M performance models are known for having fake engine noise.

On the M340s the ASD is pretty aggressive imo. You can definitely hear it from the speakers.

I have it and i do not feel that it is that agressive. It compliments well my MPE. It would be good to have an option to turn it off, but unfortunately of you turn off from IDrive it actually affects the flap and reduces all good sound from the exhaust.

Hmmm, okay. I just ordered an amp from BimmerTech, I wonder if it bypasses that feature.

Bimmercode seems to be very limited with the LCI. I wanted to disable the "heated steering wheel" when using remote start. This option does not come up for my 23. Bimmercode's websites states it comes up, but there's nada.

I coded out ASD on my 2025 with Bimmer code. The ASD button in ID8 now only controls the exhaust valve.

No, it is not available to code. At least we have a button in 2025

You have to buy the MHD OBDII connector. Download Bimmer code connect to the car. There will be an option labeled Activ Sound Design. Flip it from ACTIV to INACTIV for everything (Upshifts, downshifts, startup, etc.)

If you get comfortable with Bimmer code, you can go in expert mode and just delete the code one time. Do this at your own risk.

I just tried today on my 2025 M340ix; inside BimmerCode, there's no option to code anything related to the HeadUnit (HU). I can half-code Comfort+ (in the BDU) but can't do the other Comfort+ enable step (in the HU_MGU).

Follow up for those of use with ID8.5, as I started using BimmerCode for the first time today.

I'll need someone with ID8.5 and BimmerUtility (not BimmerCode) to confirm that we can't touch certain things (to verify that they're locked, not simply missing from BimmerCode but available in BimmerUtility).

Even though https://bimmercode.app/cars/g20/ lists a bunch of features that would be cool to code, it appears that ID8.5 has a bunch of locked ECUs. A lot of the cool features require activation in two spots, one of which is almost always locked.

Here are the ECUs you can touch:
Name: Bimmercode.png
Views: 2391
Size: 13.5 KB

That means you can code:
  • BDC_Body3 - Ambient Lighting, Ready-to-Drive tone, horn when you lock the car with it running, window lifter when door interrupt, default driving mode, mirror tilt angle,
  • RAM - Signal Tones for PDC, gong, telephone, and blinker (Rolls-Royce, BMW, BMW 2021 [Default], MINI)
  • ACSM_5 - PDC and Rear Camera shut off speed and range, seatbelt reminders,
  • HKFM_2015 - tailgate commands, speeds, button presses or pulls,
You cannot code:
  • (Head Unit) HU_MGU or HU_NBT_EVO - tons of stuff like Comfort+ or Comfort Individual, start up warning deletions, start animations, tire widget, sport displays
  • (Instrument Cluster) DKOMBI4 and KOMBI_CT_RD1 - instrument cluster layout, logo, screen refresh rate, start logo, etc

It's a shame that the HU options are locked, as they're half of Comfort+/Comfort Individual, as well as enabling Sport+ damping and steering as a menu option in Sport+.

TLDR: if you scan https://bimmercode.app/cars/g20/ for stuff you'd like to code in your ID8.5 car, there's a good chance you cannot touch any Head Unit nor Instrument CLuster options, or any options that require activation in multiple places (like Comfort+ in BDC and HU).

For idrive 8.5, from a bimmerpost user/coding service:
