Windscreen clean
Hi all,
Wondering what you all clean windscreen with? Mine is smeary all the time when wet, not to the point I can’t see but just really annoying. When cleaning the car the windscreen gets a good jetwash blast, damn good clean with car shampoo, then when dry I’ve tried rainex, window cleaner and a few other glass products, including cleaning the wiper blades. Nothing really works. Any suggestions? Screen wash is always bmw brand |

Obviously there is a cost to that but it is the best solution - along with new wiper blades. |

You need to polish it to remove the build up of traffic film/acid rain/fallout/water spots which will reveal a perfectly clear and smooth glass surface. Follow up with a dedicated glass coating(never a paint coating) or something like rain x if the coating is too expensive. After that it should stay clean with normal washing, and you can also use a glass cleaner like invisible glass to keep it clean.

These are the products I use and when: Deep Clean and/or removing old coatings like Rain-X = CarPlan CeriGlass Polish Water spots = Distilled Vinegar mixed 50/50 with distilled water. General Cleaning = Isopropyl Alcohol mixed 50/50 with distilled water. (Note: can dry out rubber, so avoid wipers and rubber seals imo) Quick Cleaning + Wipers = Autoglym Fast Glass Also tend to replace wipers every 6 – 12 months. If you do a proper deep clean and replace the wipers and it’s still smearing, the glass could be badly scratched, or the wiper arm tension needs adjusting. |

Try some Wire Wool extra-fine 0000 grade with some autoglym glass polish, go over it twice and in between passes give it a wipe over with isopropyl spray.
Should get most of the cack off and give you a fresh base for whatever you decide to protect/coat it with.... and then replace the wipers |

I have been experimenting with various Car Detailing products in the last six months trying to work out what is best for me.
By far the most amazing product I have come across is Bilt Hamber Traceless Super Wetting Glass Cleaner, https://bilthamber.com/product/trace-less/ It is Witchcraft! After a couple of cleans with this stuff my glass inside and out is spotless. I have opted not to put a coating on the glass, because a quick spray and wipe keeps it spotless. I use it in the house too. My humble opinion, but I haven't found anything as quick and easy to use that gives required results. |

On a serious note, I have been using Carchem Clarity Glass Cleaner/Polish for a number of years with good results. I think Carchem may have folded but still a few resellers about. I used to use their 1:1500 shampoo also, it smelled of Cola |
