Bosch QuietCast BC2221 - Any good?

Hi there,

I did a considerable amount of research on the forums regarding the best ceramic brake pads for the Non-M (grey caliper) brakes for my G20 330i xDrive sportline. For the fronts, I settled on the Akebono ceramics. However, for the rear, FCPEuro doesn't have those as an option.

Upon looking at prices, I'm a bit intrigued by the Bosch QuietCast BC2221 brake pads, as they're ceramic and only $35. Any word on how good these pads are? Or are the ATE Ceramics miles better?

Thanks in advance!

Following. I'm very curious about this too. I was in the market for rear pads a few weeks ago and almost bought these but ultimately decided on ATE ceramics which were about 4 times the price.

ATE ceramics have been excellent in the rear. Zero complaints. I will go with ATE ceramics or similar in the front when the time comes.

I had a very sketchy moment with cheap pads on my Golf GTI and have never cheaped out since.

BottomGear I went ahead and bought them on FCPEuro, I’ll report back with how they are. From what I’ve read, they’re reliable but make the brake pedal feel a bit more spongy than other pads. Since I plan on upgrading to the blue calipers later this year, it was worth the gamble just to get me through the next few months but I’m sure you can’t go wrong with the ATE ceramics.

The front brakes do most of the work anyways so I'm sure it'll be just fine.

Installed the Akebono fronts and Quietcast rears. I can feel the better stopping power from the ceramics -- when they're up to temp -- but the pedal does feel mushier than the OEM steel ones. I'd assume that a rotor change and eventual HAWK pads would change that, but for a budget option they're not too bad!
