Any regrets with your 2025 M340i?

I'm about to place my order for the 2025 M340ix. I love everything about the car except the following. Is there anything else you regret?

1. No rear heated seats, which are really nice for those who live in colder places. My kids may not like it during the winter.
2. Digital Key Plus would be nice.
3. Parking Assistant Professional for recording new paths.
4. Physical buttons for climate control
5. Ambient lighting compared to pre-LCI.

M8fam it’s Digital Key, not Plus. The chassis doesn’t support UWB, so no DKP for us on the 3 series until the next generation.

As far as the other things on the list, none of them are dealbreakers for me. Would they be nice? Sure. But it’s hard to be upset because the car is so great overall.

The climate controls in particular are vastly improved in ID8.5 over ID8. Even without physical buttons, I’ve had no complaints about using them. It’s marginally more annoying than physical buttons, but 99% of the time all I’m ever doing is adjusting the temperature up or down which is zero drama even on the touch screen.

I went from a 2021 M340i to a 2025 and not one of those were near a deal breaker for me personally. I actually don't mind the climate controls in the screen set up over the buttons. That was a concern for me, but it was nothing at all to get used to in all reality, even though I know everyone freaks out about it. However, one thing I HATE on the 25 is the lack of storage nets behind the seats. I stored stuff in them all the time 21 and were very handy for me. It's a ridiculous cost cutting measure in a vehicle at this price point in my opinion.

I agree on some cost cutting measures that are noticeable, but overall 25 model is a great car and there is no deal brakes for me. They even saved on items like right and left side covers in the engine bay and did not bother to add strut braces which I added myself($240). Granted the interior materials great quality and unlike new x3 we are lucky to get soft and not hard cheap plastic like in new x3. Overall it is ok, yes some buttons are nice to have, but not a deal breaker. It all compensated by better engine, better suspension and better interior.

Dont want to hijack the thread. But which Strut bar braces did you go with?

-For a $70k car no rear heated seats is definitely frustrating.
-ASS cannot be disabled via bimmer code but you do get a button to turn it off every single time.
-I dont understand how the built in dashcam does not allow me to record.
-Ambient lightning is weak in terms of ambiance. It's like it's just there to say the car has it.
- Climate control vent knobs are easily breakable specially if you get your car washed at a full service hand wash.
- Cylinder reduction makes the engine a bit less responsive than previous models.

If you did not fit your car with "Drive Recorder" (option 6DR) you should be able to unlock it from MyBMW mobile app (in the store menu). You'll then be able to use the 360 cameras as dashcam.

The nets can be retrofitted. Its just a case of removing the plastic cover from the back and replace with the back cover that has the netting fitted to it. In the UK the back cover is around £140 per seat from memory.

I do not feel any less responsiveness at all on this car. Also I do not feel cylinder deactivation. In contrary it feels more responsive than 24 model.

I went from F30 328i to G20 M340ix. No regrets with the trade, nor my config, nor with going with BMW instead of some other manufacturer. There are indeed things I wish BMW did differently but it’s still a great car.

Correct me if im wrong please. But the drive recorder only records 10 seconds before and 20 second after an accident no?

Thanks,

Thanks,
On my idrive7 it records 20 seconds before & 20 seconds after. It can also record on demand (with same 20s-20s rule), not only in an accident by holding down the "Camera" button (near the Start engine button).

I testdrove a vehicle with idrive8 and that one was able to record up to 30s before & 30s after. Don't know if idrive 8.5s is any different.
One cool thing about idrive8+ is that it can output raw recordings of the different cameras as different files, while idrive7 will stitch all recordings in a single file/recording and achieves lower resolution.
