Iphone 4 jail break

Can the iPhone 4 be unlocked yet? Just curious.

Also can anyone help me with this issue?

My dad and I both have 3GS's, he has the primary phone on the account. I want to upgrade to the iPhone 4, but since I don't have the primary phone I can't upgrade until March 2011, whereas he is allowed to upgrade now.

How do I get around this? I want to make Apple think that my dad is upgrading his 3GS, but I want to put my sim card in the iPhone 4. So I guess I am just worrying about them deactivating his current sim card and sending him a new mini one (which the iPhone 4 uses, but 3GS uses a big one).

What makes this tricky is that I can't just switch phones with him since mine is unlocked and jailbroken thus it sells for much more, like $350.

It shouldn't be an issue. It's just like if I got a new iphone 4, and sold it to someone else, and continued to use my 3gs. They won't deactivate my sim cause I'm not using the 4g.

But, I thought there was an issue because I'm getting it at $199-$250 (contract price).

Nope. A lot of people get the 4g and sell it. AT&T just wants you do renew your contract.

Updated original post with instruction no longer need to ssh to iphone or issue commands, updating cydia will solve the issue with facetime/mms, all good in the hood now!

If you're looking for a must have app for those of you new to jb, download sbsettings than swipe across your time status bar. Very useful.

1. Go to that website and slide the bar that appears on screen. Idiotproof.

2. Benefit = 3rd party apps, not limited to only using apple approved apps from the app store.

just search this forum for "jailbreak" and you'll see a crap load of threads about the benefits. It honestly is worth it. You have the ability to completely customize your phone from top to bottom along with the ability to download, for free, pretty much any app that is available in the app store as well as third party apps.

In addition to multitasking, an easier interface for toggling on/off wifi, bluetooth, openssh, 3g un-restrictor, etc, my screen now looks like this (5 icon columns, 5 icon dock)
