To be fair, the shape seen on the new 4 Series has the Hofmeister Kink pulling in the opposite/reverse direction so it's definitely a new design reinterpretation that can be seen by some as an abandonment of the design feature.
Of course, BMW themselves say it's still there.
In a
live interview from this morning, exterior designer Christopher Weil was confronted with the question of the Hofmeister Kink, to which he admitted that it differs from the shape that is 'normally' expected, but that it's still present, just in a reversed shape.
