Blame the accountants
By the looks of it pressing the body panels on the G22 surely looks more economical than the ones on the F32. The design ending up as it did this time might as well be due to the accountants cutting costs.

Anyone else wondering why they moved away from making the front edge of the hood line up with the grill and headlights like on most other modern BMW's? IMHO it looks night and day better like this... anyone else agree?

Hmm, don't like that rear window, reminds me of an Accord coupe. The rear lights, which was what I didnt like at first, have grown on me

Exactly, looks like they stretched it to the Moon and back. There is a weird sense of tension like the car is begging to shrink back, which isn't necessarily true with other even larger coupés out there. The now smaller and kicking up rear window and subsequently beefier rear quarter panels do mandate huge wheels to compensate, which is why I guess it looked way better on the Concept 4.
As the saying goes, it needs to be seen in the flesh, I was shocked to see how better the C-pillar area on the new 1er Hatch looks in 3D as opposed to the photos. Our brains are sometimes tricked into crafting volumes which aren't accurate. But so far I'm disappointed with the bloated feel to the profile. |

people need to stop disrespecting the mustang by saying this looks like it. the mustang is a gorgeous car.

Not terrible, but incredibly bland. Whoever posted that this looks like a mustang, spot on. Now I can't get that crappy Ford side boob view out of my head. Next.

I don't understand the Mustang comparisons. Maybe I'm blind, but it looks absolutely nothing like a Mustang.

Kind of like when you think someone looks like someone else until you directly compare the photos side by side, then you're like "nah!"

Seriously? The rear quarters alone are a compound stamping that I’m relatively sure is a more costly process and requires a slightly larger sheet of metal.

I honestly don't see it. I've compared the angles, looked at it side by side with pictures of a Mustang using those same angles. Unless you think all 2 door coupes look like a Mustang, I don't understand where the Mustang comparison is coming from.

I would still buy the G80 M3 over the G82 M4. Personal preference. The Coupe styling doesn't do it for me this time around. even without the grille mess (too generic).
